If your channel is accepted into the YouTube Partner Program and you have accepted the Watch Page Monetization Module, you can enable ads for a 24/7 livestream in YouTube Studio. Open the stream in Live Control Room, switch Monetization to On, then choose automatic, scheduled, or manual mid-rolls.
That setting makes your stream eligible to offer ad opportunities. It does not mean an advert will appear in every slot, that monetisation will continue without interruption, or that YouTube has a separate advertising switch for 24/7 broadcasts.
Check eligibility before changing the stream
The first question is not which mid-roll option to choose. It is whether the channel is eligible for the part of the YouTube Partner Program that shares advertising and YouTube Premium revenue.
YouTube’s current YPP overview lists the full ad-revenue threshold as 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Reaching a threshold does not automatically accept the channel. YouTube reviews the channel against its monetisation policies and checks other account requirements.
Those requirements include living in a country or region where YPP is available, having no active Community Guidelines strikes, turning on 2-Step Verification, having access to advanced features, and linking an AdSense for YouTube account. India is included in the available country and region list, but your account-specific status is the one that matters.
Open the Earn area in YouTube Studio rather than relying on the fact that adverts sometimes appear when you watch your own videos. YouTube can show ads on content from a channel that is not sharing in that revenue. Seeing an advert is not evidence that your livestream is monetised for you.
If you are still working towards the watch-hour threshold, be careful about assuming that a continuous broadcast will solve it. YouTube says qualified watch hours can come from public long-form videos and archived livestreams, while unarchived live streams do not count towards that threshold. The exact archive behaviour of a particular continuous-stream setup should not be assumed.
For that reason, treat a 24/7 channel as a publishing format, not as a shortcut around YPP eligibility. If you are building a devotional or music channel, check whether your planned material can remain public and archived in a way that meets YouTube’s current rules. You can also review the 24/7 bhakti sangeet regional-language playbook before designing the schedule.
Accept the Watch Page Monetization Module
There are two separate actions that are easy to confuse.
First, the channel must be accepted into the relevant YPP programme. Second, the creator must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module in YouTube Studio’s Earn area. The module covers ad and YouTube Premium revenue from videos and live streams watched on the YouTube Watch Page.
Accepting the module is separate from turning Monetization on for one particular livestream. A channel may be in YPP while a stream still has monetisation disabled, and switching on Monetization for a stream cannot replace acceptance of the module.
Go to YouTube Studio → Earn and look for the Watch Page module. Read the current terms shown for your account and accept them if you want the channel to participate. If YouTube shows a pending review, missing AdSense connection, or another account action, resolve that before troubleshooting the live broadcast.
The module is also not a rights clearance. Your stream still needs to comply with YouTube’s channel monetisation policies, copyright rules, and advertiser-friendly content guidelines. A 24/7 loop of music, prayers, news clips, or visual material can raise different rights and originality questions depending on who made it and how it is used.
For music channels, keep records of licences, permissions, ownership, and any restrictions that apply to the recording. For a local news loop, distinguish your own reporting and commentary from footage, photographs, or broadcasts supplied by someone else. A stream can be technically configured for ads and still receive limited advertising or lose monetisation if its content does not meet the relevant policies.

Review YouTube’s monetisation policies
Open the stream in Live Control Room
Once the channel and Watch Page module are ready, open the live broadcast in YouTube Studio.
- Go to YouTube Studio.
- Select Create → Go live.
- Use the Stream tab for a broadcast you are setting up now, or open Manage and select a scheduled stream.
- Open the relevant broadcast in Live Control Room.
- From the top of the Live Control Room, choose Edit → Monetization.
The labels can change slightly as YouTube updates Studio, so use the stream’s editing controls rather than looking for a channel-wide “24/7 ads” switch. The official livestream instructions describe the ordinary live-stream controls, not a separate mode for an always-on broadcast.
Before you start the broadcast, confirm that you are editing the correct event. This matters when a channel has an old stream, a scheduled replacement, and a current stream with similar titles. Check the title, thumbnail, visibility, stream key, and scheduled time before changing monetisation settings.
A 24/7 stream may be produced from a computer, an encoder, or a cloud-based workflow. The advertising controls are still applied in YouTube Studio. If your concern is keeping a long broadcast running while your own computer is off, StreamNeo removes that particular operating task by letting you upload the video, add the YouTube stream key, and leave the broadcast running with monitoring and automatic restart when it drops.
The stream still needs a suitable source and a channel that complies with YouTube’s rules. A different production method does not unlock YPP or make an ad more likely to fill a slot.
If you are running the stream from your own equipment, a stable connection remains important. The guide to troubleshooting YouTube Live packet loss on an Indian ISP is useful before you interpret a blank ad break as an advertising problem. A network drop, encoder stop, or disconnected broadcast is a separate failure.
Turn Monetization on for the broadcast
In Edit → Monetization, set Monetization to On. Then review the live ad settings shown below it before you save or start the broadcast.
When livestream monetisation is enabled, pre-roll and display ads are automatically turned on according to YouTube’s live-stream system. You do not need to create a separate pre-roll schedule. Mid-rolls are controlled separately through the automatic, scheduled, or manual choices.
The important distinction is between making an opportunity available and filling it. YouTube Help states that “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” A viewer may reach a point where you have allowed a break and see no advert. The result can depend on whether an ad is available for that viewer, whether the viewer is eligible to receive it, and how YouTube’s systems decide to fill the opportunity.
Do not keep switching the setting on and off to test it during a live devotional, ambience, or radio stream. Make one controlled change, save it, and allow the broadcast to continue. If you need to test the path, use a scheduled or low-risk stream rather than repeatedly interrupting the main channel.
Monetised channels without rights management can set defaults for future streams at channel level. Treat a default as a starting point, not proof that every future broadcast has the correct setting. Open each important stream and check the actual Monetization state, especially after changing the format or replacing the source file.
The official YouTube Help instructions for monetising a live stream should be your reference when the Studio interface differs from the steps above. YouTube can change the location or wording of controls without changing the basic distinction between YPP eligibility, the Watch Page module, and stream-level monetisation.
Choose a mid-roll method that fits the channel
Mid-rolls are the advertisements that can appear during the live broadcast. YouTube provides three approaches. They differ mainly in how much control you keep and how much attention the stream needs while it is live.
| Mid-roll approach | How it works | Control and interruption | Operational effort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic | YouTube selects breakpoints. You can choose low, medium, or high frequency. | You give YouTube more control over timing. Its live guidance includes engagement-sensitive behaviour. | Lowest once configured |
| Scheduled | You choose an interval of 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 minutes. | Timing follows the selected interval, but an available slot still may not fill. | Low after setup |
| Manual | You insert breaks while the stream is live. | You decide when to offer a break. If you insert none, no manual mid-rolls are served. | Highest, because someone must act during the broadcast |
Automatic mid-rolls
YouTube’s live-stream instructions recommend automatic mid-rolls. In this mode, YouTube selects breakpoints and offers low, medium, or high frequency choices. The system can take viewer engagement into account, which may be more suitable for a channel that has changing activity throughout the day.
YouTube says automatic scheduling can limit disruption to members, temporarily pause mid-rolls for viewers sending Gifts or Super Chats or Super Stickers, and snooze breaks during high-engagement moments. In Live Control Room, creators can delay automatic mid-rolls for 10 minutes. Manually placed breaks still display when that delay feature is enabled, so do not treat the delay as a universal pause button.
Automatic does not mean every viewer sees the same advert or that every break will be filled. It means YouTube is selecting when to create the opportunity rather than asking you to press the button.
Scheduled mid-rolls
Scheduled mid-rolls let you choose an interval of 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 minutes. This can be easier to explain to a team because the intended spacing is visible in the setting. It can also be easier to maintain for a simple ambience loop where there are no obvious presenter-led pauses.
A fixed interval is not automatically a good viewer experience. In a meditation stream, a break at a poor moment may be more noticeable than one placed between segments. In a local news loop, an advert in the middle of a sentence or emergency update can make the channel feel unreliable even if the ad setting is working as configured.
Use the interval as a planning aid, not as a promise to viewers. YouTube still decides whether an available opportunity receives an ad.
Manual mid-rolls
Manual mode gives you the most direct timing control, but it requires an active operator during the broadcast. You can insert a break when a song ends, a programme segment closes, or a natural pause appears. If nobody inserts a break, no manual mid-roll will be served.
This option is usually a poor fit for a genuinely unattended 24/7 channel unless someone is monitoring the stream and can act. A planned playlist can contain natural boundaries, but YouTube’s manual control still depends on an operator making the live insertion. If your channel runs through the night without a person watching it, automatic or scheduled controls may be easier to operate.
What these settings do not guarantee
Turning Monetization on is not a guarantee of an advert in every slot. It is not a guarantee that every viewer will receive the same number of ads, and it is not a guarantee of uninterrupted monetisation over a continuous broadcast.
A 24/7 stream has no special exemption from YouTube’s normal content review. Copyright, originality, advertiser suitability, age restrictions, and other policy decisions can affect whether content is eligible for advertising. Repeating a file continuously does not change those requirements.
The format can also affect how viewers experience interruptions. A short devotional segment may tolerate a break between items, while a quiet sleep or study stream may be judged by viewers on its continuity. For a radio-style channel, document where the music came from and what rights cover the recording, not only what rights cover the composition. For an aquarium loop, make sure the footage and audio are yours or properly licensed.
If a channel’s monetisation status changes, do not assume the reason is the ad schedule. Review the Earn area, policy notifications, copyright notices, and stream settings together. The guide on demonetisation on a 24/7 channel covers the recovery path without treating mid-roll configuration as the only possible cause.
YouTube reported that creators who chose live automatic mid-rolls saw over 20% average uplift in instream ad revenue per hour in a January 2024 measurement across 207 countries. That is YouTube’s reported average comparison, not a forecast for an Indian channel, a particular niche, or one continuous stream. It should not be used as a promise of earnings.
India also has other fan-funding features, including memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks, with Gifts announced for India by Google India on 7 July 2026. These are separate from livestream ad revenue and are not prerequisites for enabling ads. Choose them only if they suit the channel and the audience; do not use them as evidence that an ad slot will fill.
Build a reliable pre-live check
Before starting a long broadcast, run through the settings as if another person will need to verify them without guessing.
Check that the channel is accepted into the relevant YPP tier, the Watch Page Monetization Module is accepted, and the intended stream shows Monetization as On. Confirm the mid-roll method, the selected frequency or interval, and whether a person is responsible for manual insertions.
Then check the content itself. Confirm the source file is the approved version, the loop does not contain an unlicensed song or clip, and the title and description do not make claims the stream cannot support. If the broadcast is for local news, check that old information cannot be mistaken for a current alert.
Finally, check the operating path. Verify the stream key, encoder or cloud workflow, internet connection, audio level, and restart plan. YouTube’s ad controls cannot repair a broadcast that has stopped sending video. The separate guide to running prerecorded videos on a YouTube live stream from an Indian cloud server can help you think through the production side, but it does not replace the YPP and Monetization checks above.
Keep a short record of the date, stream name, Monetization state, mid-roll choice, and any policy notice. This makes it easier to identify whether a later problem came from an account status change, a broadcast failure, a content issue, or an unfilled ad opportunity.

FAQ
Do I need to be in the YouTube Partner Program to enable ads on a 24/7 livestream?
Yes, you need to be accepted into the relevant YPP ad-revenue tier and have accepted the Watch Page Monetization Module. You must also turn Monetization on for the individual livestream in Live Control Room. Meeting the subscriber or watch-hour threshold alone does not guarantee acceptance.
Can I schedule ads every few minutes?
YouTube’s scheduled mid-roll choices listed in the live-stream controls are 6, 12, 18, 24, and 30 minutes. A scheduled opportunity is not a promise that an advert will be served, and frequent interruptions may not suit a devotional, study, sleep, or news channel.
Will a 24/7 livestream count towards 4,000 watch hours?
Do not assume it will. YouTube says qualified watch hours can come from public long-form videos and archived livestreams, while unarchived live streams do not count. Check the current archive and eligibility guidance for your setup rather than relying on continuous broadcasting alone.
Is there a special ad setting for continuous YouTube streams?
The official live-stream controls do not identify a separate 24/7-only ad setting. Use the normal Monetization control and choose automatic, scheduled, or manual mid-rolls, while remembering that YouTube does not guarantee an advert in every available slot.
