To enable Super Chat on a looping YouTube live stream, first confirm that your channel and the stream meet YouTube’s requirements. If the channel is eligible, open Earn > Supers in YouTube Studio, select Get started, complete the prompts and turn on Super Chat.

YouTube’s documented setup does not include a separate switch for looping streams. A loop still needs eligible content and live chat that viewers can use; the fact that a stream repeats does not itself add or remove a Super Chat control.

Check channel eligibility before looking for controls

Super Chat is a YouTube Partner Program feature, not a setting that every channel can reveal by changing a stream option. You need to be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program, be at least 18, live in a location where Super Chat is available, and accept and comply with YouTube’s applicable Commerce Product Module or earlier Commerce Product Addendum. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility guidance describes these conditions and the limits on individual videos.

The order matters. If your channel is not eligible, the Supers area may not appear in Studio; repeatedly searching for the button or changing a loop’s settings will not substitute for eligibility. YouTube says the Supers tab appears only when a channel is eligible. Check the current eligibility information in YouTube Help if you are unsure which requirements apply to your location or account.

Also separate channel eligibility from a particular stream’s eligibility. A channel may have access to Supers while an individual video or live stream cannot offer Super Chat because of its visibility, audience classification, age restriction, fundraiser association or chat settings. The control in Studio does not override those restrictions.

For a broader view of what monetisation means for an always-on channel in India, see this guide to monetising a 24/7 YouTube stream in India. That question is wider than turning on Super Chat: eligibility for one feature should not be treated as a promise of revenue, approval for every video or a forecast of what viewers will contribute.

Open Earn, then Supers in YouTube Studio

Sign in to the YouTube account that owns the channel and open YouTube Studio. In the left-hand navigation, select Earn, then open Supers. If the channel is eligible and the feature is available, this is where YouTube presents the setup flow for Super Chat and Super Stickers.

You may not see the same screen as another creator. The account may not qualify, the location may not be supported, or the Studio interface may have changed. First confirm that you are signed in to the right channel and look at YouTube’s current eligibility guidance. If Supers is still absent, treat that as a reason to investigate eligibility rather than a cue to look for a hidden loop-specific control.

Super Chat and Super Stickers are related but distinct features. If you want paid highlighted messages, the switch you need is Super Chat. Turning on Super Stickers is a separate choice, and it is not required to make Super Chat available.

Select Get started and follow the prompts

From the Supers page, select Get started and complete the steps YouTube presents. Read each prompt as a setup requirement, not as a guarantee that every stream on the channel will be able to use the feature. If YouTube asks you to review or accept an agreement, complete that step before expecting the controls to become usable.

The exact interface wording can change. Follow the current prompts in Studio rather than relying on an old screenshot or a menu described for a different account. YouTube’s documented setup instructions for Super Chat and Super Stickers are the primary reference when the screen does not match a walkthrough.

This setup is at the channel level, while restrictions can still apply to the specific stream or video. That distinction is useful when planning a 24/7 broadcast: enabling a feature in Studio does not make a private or unlisted stream eligible, turn chat back on, or change an audience designation. After completing setup, check the stream itself before telling viewers that Super Chat is available.

Accept the Commerce Product Module if prompted

YouTube may prompt you to accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM) as part of the Supers setup. Read the agreement and accept it if you choose to use the feature and agree to its terms. Some channels may encounter an earlier Commerce Product Addendum instead; follow the agreement Studio presents for your account.

This step is easy to mistake for a technical activation problem. If the agreement has not been accepted, finishing other parts of the setup may not be enough. Conversely, accepting it does not remove the other eligibility conditions or video restrictions. Keep the distinction clear: the agreement is one part of feature access, not a bypass for YouTube’s rules.

You remain responsible for the content in the stream and for the rights needed to broadcast it. A devotional playlist, lofi station, local news loop or shop promotion still needs appropriate rights for its audio and visuals. YouTube’s channel monetisation policies discuss originality and repetitive or mass-produced material. The policy does not say that every loop is automatically disqualified, but it does mean a channel should offer original value rather than simply repeat material with little variation or viewer benefit.

Switch on Super Chat

Once the setup prompts and any required agreement are complete, use the Super Chat switch in the Supers area to enable it. Check that it is specifically Super Chat you have switched on; Super Stickers have their own control. If the switch is unavailable, return to the eligibility and agreement checks instead of assuming the loop needs a different configuration.

This change makes the feature available where YouTube allows it. It does not guarantee that every viewer will see the option or that every stream will accept a purchase. The stream must still have live chat available and must not fall into one of YouTube’s exclusions. Viewers also need to use a context in which chat is available.

If your loop is produced from a playlist or a prerecorded file, its production method is separate from Super Chat activation. YouTube supports more than one way to send a live broadcast; it does not prescribe a particular encoder as a condition for enabling Supers. For example, creators who need to change their production workflow may find this guide to switching from OBS to FFmpeg without changing a YouTube Live event useful, but changing encoders is not a Super Chat setup step.

Check stream, video and content restrictions

Before relying on Super Chat for a live loop, check the individual stream’s visibility and audience settings. YouTube identifies private or unlisted videos, age-restricted content, Made for Kids content and videos associated with a YouTube Giving fundraiser among the exclusions. Super Chat also depends on live chat being available. The current Super Chat eligibility and availability page is the best place to check the exact restrictions.

What to check Why it matters What to do
Channel access Supers is shown only when YouTube considers the channel eligible. Confirm YPP, age and location conditions, then check the Supers page.
Stream visibility Private and unlisted streams or videos are excluded. Review the stream’s visibility before it goes live.
Audience and restrictions Made for Kids or age-restricted content cannot offer Super Chat; other exclusions may apply. Check the audience setting and any restrictions on the stream.
Live chat Super Chat is a paid highlighted message in live chat. Confirm chat is enabled and available on the watch page.
Loop content Repetition alone is not a documented loop-specific switch or blanket ruling. Make the programme useful and original, and check rights for all material.

For a loop, content quality and rights deserve a deliberate review. YouTube’s monetisation policy applies to live streams and may assess whether content is original and authentic; repetitive or mass-produced material with little variation or viewer value may be ineligible. That is not the same as a rule that every repeated playlist fails. Consider whether the channel adds context, curation, useful information, original presentation or another clear benefit, and make sure you have rights to the music and imagery you broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights on the content provider.

Long broadcasts also raise an archive question, but it is separate from whether Super Chat can operate during the live broadcast. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. The archive guidance does not say that Super Chat switches off at the 12-hour mark. If preserving the replay matters, make a local recording rather than assuming YouTube will retain a complete archive. The guide to running a church prayer meeting playlist 24/7 on YouTube is relevant when planning the stream as a continuous programme.

Test live chat on the stream

When the stream is live, open its YouTube watch page and check that live chat is visible. That is where Super Chat’s highlighted paid messages appear. Do not test only from an embedded player on your own site: YouTube says chat is not available on embedded players, so a viewer there may not have the chat interface needed to use Super Chat.

Ask a trusted person to check the stream from a separate viewer account or device, without asking them to make a purchase. Confirm that the stream is public, chat is present, and the viewer is on YouTube’s watch page. This simple check distinguishes a Studio configuration issue from a viewer-context issue. If a viewer reports that Super Chat is missing, ask where they are watching and whether they can see chat before changing the broadcast setup.

For a 24/7 channel, set expectations in the stream description or pinned message where appropriate. Explain that viewers should open the YouTube watch page if they are watching an embed and want to use chat. Avoid promising that the feature will always be visible: eligibility, video restrictions, account settings and YouTube’s interface can change.

Keep the loop and its operating plan separate

A looping stream’s continuity is a production concern; Super Chat eligibility is a YouTube feature concern. If you are switching between a local computer and another way of keeping a prerecorded broadcast running, keep the stream key and event workflow organised, but do not treat that production choice as an eligibility fix. The guide to keeping an internet radio station online with YouTube Live Control Room can help clarify the difference between a broadcast method and the viewer-facing live experience.

If an always-on loop currently depends on a computer remaining powered on, StreamNeo can remove the need to keep that computer running by taking an uploaded video and broadcasting it as a 24/7 YouTube live stream. That addresses the operational burden of maintaining the loop; you still need to qualify for Supers, enable the feature in YouTube Studio and keep the stream eligible under YouTube’s rules.

Before committing, compare the operating options on the pricing page. When the file and channel are ready, start free — 24-hour trial, no card.

FAQ

Can I use Super Chat on a looping YouTube live stream?

YouTube’s documented setup steps are the same for a looping stream, and its reviewed help pages do not identify a separate loop-specific switch. The channel must be eligible, Super Chat must be enabled in Studio, and the stream must meet the applicable restrictions and have live chat available.

Why is the Supers tab missing in YouTube Studio?

YouTube says Supers appears only when the channel is eligible. Check that you are signed into the correct channel, that it meets YouTube Partner Program, age and location requirements, and that you have completed any required agreement step. If the tab remains absent, consult the current official eligibility page rather than looking for a loop setting.

Does Super Chat work when viewers watch an embedded stream?

YouTube says live chat is not available on embedded players. Since Super Chat is a paid highlighted message in live chat, direct viewers to the YouTube watch page if they want to use chat and see Super Chat options.

Will YouTube archive a stream that runs all day?

YouTube says a stream shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while one exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is an archive caveat, not a statement that Super Chat turns off during the live broadcast. If a replay matters, keep a local recording.
