If you are looking for a creator setting that sets the smallest or largest Super Chat viewers may send, YouTube’s published instructions do not document one. The creator-side controls are for turning Super Chat and Super Stickers on or off, while the viewer chooses an amount during the purchase process.

You can still prepare your channel correctly: enable Supers in YouTube Studio, complete any Commerce Product Module steps, and check that the stream and channel meet YouTube’s requirements. Do not treat the amount slider a viewer sees as a control you can set for your channel.

What creators can control for Super Chat

The first distinction matters because the wording of many setup questions combines two different interfaces. As a creator, you can manage whether Super Chat and Super Stickers are available on eligible live streams and Premieres. YouTube’s creator instructions describe enabling or disabling those features.

They do not document a creator-adjustable minimum Super Chat amount or a creator-adjustable maximum. That means there is no supported step in the published creator flow such as “open Monetisation, enter £2 as the minimum, and enter £100 as the maximum”. You should not promise viewers that your channel has custom amount boundaries unless YouTube shows a clearly documented control in your current account.

To see the official overview, use YouTube’s guide to managing Super Chat and Super Stickers for Live Chat. It explains the creator feature and related revenue information, but it does not turn the viewer’s purchase slider into a creator setting.

For an always-on channel, this distinction is useful when you plan moderation and support. A devotional loop, local news stream or study channel can decide whether Supers fit its format, but it cannot use the documented creator controls to enforce a custom contribution floor or ceiling. If a viewer asks why a particular amount was accepted or displayed, the answer belongs to YouTube’s purchase and display rules, not to a limit you configured.

You also need to separate Supers from ordinary channel donations or crowdfunding. YouTube describes Super Chat and Super Stickers as fan-funding features and says creators remain responsible for complying with applicable laws and terms. Check the current Super Chat eligibility, availability and policies before relying on the feature for a particular channel or programme.

Enable Supers in the YouTube Studio mobile app

YouTube’s documented mobile route is the practical starting point:

  1. Open the YouTube Studio mobile app.
  2. Tap Earn at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap the Supers card.
  4. If the card is not shown, look for Get started in the Supers section and tap Turn on.
  5. Follow the instructions shown in the app.

The labels may not appear exactly as they do in an older guide or on a different account. Use the current labels in your own YouTube Studio app rather than searching for a missing “minimum amount” or “maximum amount” field.

If you are setting up a channel for a small business or a family-run devotional project, make sure you are signed into the channel that should receive the feature. It is easy to open Studio under a personal Google account and conclude that Supers are unavailable when the relevant channel is elsewhere in the account switcher.

A third party who administers channel rights should be consulted before Supers are enabled. This is particularly important where a production company, temple committee, local newsroom or business partner controls the channel but another person handles the Studio account. Agree who can enable the feature, respond to payment questions and review the resulting activity.

Enabling Supers is separate from the technical health of the live broadcast. If viewers cannot see live chat because the stream has a long delay or chat is not enabled, turning on Supers will not by itself create a visible purchase area. For background on timing, see this explanation of why a YouTube live stream can be delayed by 30 seconds.

Complete any on-screen setup steps

On first use, YouTube may ask you to complete additional steps, including signing the Commerce Product Module. Follow the instructions shown rather than treating the feature as active immediately after tapping Turn on.

The Commerce Product Module is part of the commercial setup for fan-funding features. Read the current terms presented to the account holder, check who is authorised to accept them, and keep a record of which channel accepted them. Do not assume that a person who can operate the live stream is automatically the person who should accept commercial terms.

When the app confirms the setup, Supers can surface on eligible live streams and Premieres. This still does not mean that every video on the channel will show Super Chat. YouTube applies eligibility, availability and content restrictions at the channel and video level.

For a 24/7 stream, test the actual viewing experience before announcing the feature. Use a separate viewer account where appropriate, open the live chat, and check whether the dollar-sign control or Super Chat option is available. Do not use a test purchase casually if you are trying to avoid a real transaction. The purpose of the test is to confirm that the stream has the expected chat and monetisation state, not to establish a custom minimum or maximum.

Supers can be unavailable when live chat or comments are turned off. They are also unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private or Made for Kids videos, and on YouTube Giving fundraiser videos, according to YouTube’s published eligibility guidance. A stream that is technically broadcasting may therefore still lack the feature on the watch page.

If your channel consists of prerecorded worship, music or promotional material, the content format does not remove the need to check each stream’s status. You can review practical considerations for a continuous worship broadcast in this guide to streaming pre-recorded worship services on YouTube without a PC running. The relevant point here is that stream delivery and Supers eligibility are separate checks.

What viewers choose in the purchase flow

The amount selection belongs to the viewer. On a computer, YouTube says a viewer can open the dollar-sign control in a visible live chat, select Super Chat, drag the slider or type a desired value, optionally add a message, and then select Buy and send. The exact currency presentation depends on the viewer’s location and account.

The viewer may see the colour and how long the purchase remains highlighted change according to the amount. Those display effects are part of YouTube’s viewer purchase experience. They are not evidence that the creator has set a scale of approved amounts.

The basic roles can be kept straight like this:

Action or rule Who controls it What it affects
Turn Super Chat and Super Stickers on or off Creator, through YouTube Studio Whether the feature is enabled for eligible content
Enter or select a purchase amount Viewer, in the purchase flow The amount that viewer attempts to send
Add a message Viewer The text attached to that Super Chat, subject to YouTube’s systems and policies
Show a purchase in the ticker YouTube’s display rules Whether and how the purchase appears in the live chat interface
Daily and weekly spending limits YouTube’s viewer-side rules The combined amount a viewer can spend across specified features

YouTube’s current computer purchase instructions say purchases below US$5, or the local equivalent, do not appear in the ticker. As listed on YouTube Help on 3 October 2026, the same page states viewer limits of up to US$2,000 per day and US$8,000 per week combined across Jewels, Super Chats, Super Stickers and Super Thanks. These are viewer-side purchase or display rules, not amount limits that the channel owner can configure.

Do not convert those figures into a promise that every channel can receive, display or restrict the same way in every currency. YouTube’s page does not provide a complete creator-controlled selectable range for each location. If the experience differs for a viewer in India, the United Kingdom or another market, check the current purchase screen and official help page rather than copying a number from an old tutorial.

Why viewer-selected amounts are not creator limits

A viewer typing an amount into a box answers the question “what does this viewer want to attempt to purchase?” It does not answer “what range has this creator authorised?” The two actions happen in different interfaces and have different owners.

The same applies to the US$5 ticker threshold. It describes whether a purchase appears in the ticker according to YouTube’s viewer guidance. It does not mean that the creator has set US$5 as a minimum, and it does not necessarily describe every way a purchase or transaction may be represented elsewhere in the product.

The daily and weekly figures have the same limitation. They are aggregate viewer spending limits across the listed YouTube features. They do not allow a creator to say that a viewer may spend only a certain amount on this one channel, this one livestream or this one Super Chat.

This matters for channel planning. Suppose you run an overnight bhajan stream and want every visible message to be at least a particular value. The documented controls do not let you enter that value as a custom minimum. You may explain your preferred support method in the channel description or moderation message, but that communication is not a YouTube-enforced payment boundary.

Likewise, if you are concerned that a viewer might send an unusually large amount, the published creator setup does not provide a documented maximum field. Do not advertise that the channel rejects purchases above a number unless YouTube’s current account interface and official documentation specifically support that claim.

If your real concern is message visibility rather than payment size, consider the difference between moderation and amount control. You can operate the chat according to YouTube’s available moderation tools and your channel rules, but moderation is not a way to create a custom Super Chat price range. For a continuous channel, it is also worth checking audio and programme quality separately; audio desync in a 24/7 Indian music YouTube stream can affect the viewing experience without changing any Supers setting.

Check eligibility before looking for an amount field

A missing Supers card may indicate that the channel does not currently meet the relevant requirements or that the feature is not available in its location. YouTube says creators need to meet minimum fan-funding requirements, live in a supported location and comply with applicable terms and policies, including the Commerce Product Module.

The absence of the card is therefore not proof that YouTube has hidden a minimum-and-maximum menu somewhere else in Studio. First check the channel, location, permissions and terms. Then check whether the particular live stream has a format or setting that prevents Supers from appearing.

The documented restrictions include age-restricted, unlisted, private and Made for Kids videos, as well as YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. Supers are also unavailable when live chat or comments are turned off. These restrictions can matter during a scheduled broadcast even when the channel normally has Supers enabled.

For a store, café or local business, check whether a promotional stream is public and has the intended chat configuration before directing customers to support it. YouTube’s published Super Chat tips can provide additional context, but current availability remains account- and content-dependent.

Do not describe Supers as a donation system or crowdfunding campaign without checking the applicable guidance. YouTube identifies them as fan-funding features, and the creator remains responsible for relevant legal, tax and policy obligations. If another organisation receives or administers the channel’s funds, confirm the arrangement with the appropriate person rather than relying on the presence of a button in live chat.

Where to check the current creator controls

Use the YouTube Studio mobile app as the first place to check the creator-side state. Open Earn, select Supers, and review whether the feature is on. If the card or setup route is absent, use YouTube’s current eligibility and availability information as the next check.

You should also inspect the live stream’s actual watch page. Confirm that the stream is public, live chat is available and the content is not subject to one of the restrictions listed by YouTube. A channel-level setting can be correct while a particular video still cannot offer Supers.

For the viewer-side explanation, use YouTube’s official computer instructions for buying a Super Chat or Super Sticker. That page is the right source for the purchase sequence, slider or typed amount, ticker visibility and the viewer spending limits. It is not a creator settings page.

This separation also makes support replies more accurate. If a viewer asks how to choose an amount, point them to the purchase flow. If a creator asks how to turn the feature on, point them to Studio. If someone asks how to set a custom minimum or maximum, explain that the reviewed creator documentation does not publish such a control and advise checking the current official interface before making a stronger claim.

For an always-on operation, write this distinction into your runbook. Record who checks Supers, who confirms the Commerce Product Module, who verifies chat availability after a stream restart and who handles questions about viewer payments. If the broadcast is run from a cloud service such as StreamNeo, the operational benefit is that the uploaded programme can continue without leaving your own computer running, but that does not change YouTube’s Supers controls or viewer-side rules.

Before committing, compare the operating options on the pricing page. When the file and channel are ready, start free — 24-hour trial, no card.

FAQ

Can I set a minimum Super Chat amount for my YouTube channel?

YouTube’s published creator instructions reviewed here explain how to turn Supers on or off, but do not document a creator-controlled custom minimum. The amount a viewer selects, and the rules about how it appears, belong to YouTube’s purchase flow.

Can I set a maximum Super Chat amount?

The reviewed official guidance does not publish a creator setting for a custom maximum. Do not treat the viewer’s daily or weekly spending limits as a per-channel maximum, because those limits apply to the viewer and can cover several YouTube features.

Why is the Supers card missing in YouTube Studio?

The channel may not meet the current fan-funding requirements, may be in a location where the feature is unavailable, or may still need to complete the required setup. Check YouTube’s current eligibility, terms and Commerce Product Module instructions, then confirm that the relevant live stream is public, has live chat and is not subject to a listed restriction.

Where does a viewer choose the Super Chat amount?

On a computer, the viewer opens the dollar-sign control in a visible live chat, selects Super Chat, then drags the slider or types an amount before choosing Buy and send. That is a viewer-side purchase action, not a creator-side minimum or maximum setting.
