Set up and publish your Tiltify campaign first, then choose how it should appear during the broadcast: as an OBS browser overlay, a Twitch fundraising panel, or an alert integration through Streamlabs or StreamElements. The overlay or alert is not the donation link; share your campaign page separately so viewers know where to donate.
This guide follows Tiltify’s OBS overlay path from widget configuration through placement and testing, with notes on the other routes where they differ. Treat the overlay URL as a private configuration link: add it to your streaming software, but do not publish it for viewers to use.
Publish the campaign and choose a route
Before opening overlay settings, create and publish the campaign in Tiltify. Complete the campaign details and any optional milestones, rewards or polls, then use the campaign’s Publish Campaign action. Tiltify’s campaign setup guidance describes the account and campaign flow. The published campaign is the basis for the overlay and integrations, and its public page supplies the donation link.
Decide where viewers should see or interact with fundraising information. An OBS browser overlay places campaign visuals in a scene, while the Twitch Fundraising Extension provides a donation panel in a Twitch channel. Streamlabs and StreamElements can connect campaign donations to their respective alert tools. They are distinct routes, not steps that everyone must configure in sequence. Choose the one that fits your platform and existing broadcast software.
| Route | What it adds | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| OBS browser overlay | Campaign visuals inside an OBS scene | Overlay URL, source dimensions, scene placement and visibility |
| Twitch Fundraising Extension | A donation panel on the Twitch channel | Correct campaign, saved configuration, active panel and pop-ups allowed |
| Streamlabs integration | Tiltify campaign donations to existing Streamlabs tip alerts | Connected account and selected active campaign |
| StreamElements integration | Tiltify campaign donations registered in StreamElements | Authorization and StreamElements support for integration issues |
For YouTube, an OBS overlay can show campaign material during the video, but it does not replace the donation page link. Tiltify’s YouTube fundraising guidance recommends putting the donation link in the description and sharing it in chat. It also notes that YouTube Super Chat contributions do not go to the Tiltify campaign, so state clearly which route supports the fundraiser.
If you are deciding between a Tiltify campaign and YouTube’s own giving tools, compare how each donation path appears to viewers; our guide to setting up YouTube Giving during a 24/7 stream covers the platform-specific option. For other streaming formats, the practical distinction between a broadcast source and its underlying stream setup is also covered in encoding versus transcoding.
Configure the widget in TipeeeStream
Tiltify’s instructions refer to its overlay configuration as a widget in TipeeeStream. Open the published campaign’s Overlay area from the Tiltify dashboard, then choose the overlay style that suits the scene. The exact labels available can change, so follow the current dashboard rather than relying on an old screenshot. The key is that the selected widget belongs to the campaign you intend to show.
Choose a style with the broadcast layout in mind. A compact overlay takes up less screen area; full-width styles are intended for a position along the top or bottom of the video. A devotional music channel may want a small alert that does not cover the artwork, while a scheduled fundraiser may reserve a wider lower strip for progress information. Keep subtitles, names and other important content clear of the area where the widget will appear.
Configure only the visual elements you need. A clean scene is often easier to read on a phone than one crowded with campaign text. If the design includes donor names or alert text, consider how long names will fit and whether the message is legible over bright or moving imagery. These are layout checks, not promises about what every alert will display.
If the campaign is still unpublished or you selected the wrong campaign, pause here and correct that first. Reconfiguring a widget against the wrong campaign can make the scene appear functional while showing fundraising information for a different event. A separate YouTube radio channel guide explains why it helps to test the actual scene and programme sequence, not just individual settings.
Copy the widget URL and keep it private
When the widget style is ready, use its copy-URL control. This is a configuration URL intended for the browser source in your streaming software, not the public address donors should visit. Keep it out of public descriptions, pinned messages and screenshots. Viewers should receive the campaign donation page URL instead.
The two URLs have different jobs. The donation page lets a supporter view the fundraiser and make a contribution; the widget URL lets the broadcast software load campaign visuals. Sharing the latter is not a substitute for sharing the former, and the setup instructions do not make the widget URL safe to publish. Store it only where you manage stream configuration, and avoid sending it in a public chat while asking for troubleshooting help.
If you need to revisit it, return to the campaign’s overlay settings and copy the current URL again. Do not assume that an old browser-source URL still reflects later design edits. Keep a note of which campaign the source is intended to display, particularly if you run multiple fundraising events or switch between scenes.
Add the URL as an OBS browser source
In OBS, open the scene where the overlay should appear. In Sources, choose Add and select Browser, then give the source a clear name such as “Tiltify campaign overlay”. Paste the copied widget URL into the URL field. Naming it distinctly makes it easier to find when the scene contains several graphics, browser pages or alerts.
Tiltify’s OBS overlay instructions give source-size guidance: use a width of 1280 pixels for a 720p stream or 1920 pixels for a 1080p stream, with a height of at least 70 pixels to avoid issues. These are configuration values from Tiltify’s guidance, not performance guarantees. Match the source to the canvas and the selected overlay style; if you use a different canvas size, consult the current instructions and check the result visually.
After adding the source, make sure it is visible in the intended scene and that it sits above any background layer it needs to cover. If it is hidden behind another source, the browser may be working while nothing appears on screen. If your setup runs continuously, include the fundraising scene in the same checks you use for other sources; a guide to monitoring a 24/7 YouTube stream is useful context for building a repeatable playback check.
Position and size the source
Use OBS’s transform handles or source properties to place the overlay. A full-width strip can sit at the top or bottom edge, while a compact style may fit in a corner or a clear region of the image. Keep the widget within the canvas bounds; a source positioned partly beyond an edge may be cropped in the programme even if the preview makes it difficult to notice.
Check the layout at the stream’s actual output resolution and in the scene viewers will see. A graphic that looks readable on a large desktop preview can become small on a phone. Look at the whole composition: faces, captions, lyrics, logos and important information should not be covered. For a lofi or ambience stream with a static background, the same placement may remain on screen for a long time, so avoid an overlay that obstructs the main visual throughout the broadcast.
Make one adjustment at a time. If the text looks too small, first verify that the browser-source dimensions are appropriate; then adjust its scale and placement. Avoid stretching the source unevenly, as that can distort text and graphics. If the style itself occupies too much of the frame, return to the widget settings and choose a more compact layout rather than hiding pieces arbitrarily.
Before going live, preview the scene at full size and check any scene transitions that might reveal or hide the source. If you use separate scenes for a holding screen, main programme and breaks, decide where the fundraising overlay belongs in each one. An overlay visible in one scene does not automatically appear in every scene unless you deliberately reuse or copy the source.
Trigger an alert from alert configuration
To check an alert, use the alert test control in the service or alert configuration you are using, where available. For the OBS overlay path, return to the widget or alert settings and trigger a test from the relevant configuration screen. Then watch the OBS preview: check that the alert is visible, that text can be read, and that it is not covered by another source. A test confirms the displayed test state in that setup; it does not guarantee that a future donation or alert will be delivered.
If you use Streamlabs, connect Tiltify through the Integrations area in Streamlabs account settings. Tiltify’s Streamlabs integration instructions say the connection defaults to the most recently published campaign; use Manage to select another campaign if needed. Existing Streamlabs tip alerts can then be used for donations to the active campaign. Follow Streamlabs’ own current alert instructions for alert appearance and test controls.
For StreamElements, sign in and open account settings, then Integrations and Tiltify. Choose Connect and authorise the connection. Tiltify says this lets StreamElements register campaign donations, but does not manage or maintain the integration; contact StreamElements support for its troubleshooting. Check that the intended campaign is selected and use the available test controls in the alert configuration rather than assuming authorisation alone means the visual alert is ready.
Twitch uses a different route. Install Tiltify Fundraising from Twitch Extensions, configure it with your Tiltify account and campaign, save the setup and assign the extension to an enabled channel panel. Allow pop-ups because Tiltify says they are used for configuration and the donation flow. A Twitch panel is not the same thing as an OBS overlay, so verify the panel on the channel itself as well as any OBS scenes.
Refresh the source after widget edits
After changing widget settings, refresh the browser source in OBS before judging the result. Right-click the source and use its refresh option, or close and reopen the relevant scene if needed. Then inspect the preview again to make sure the edited design is visible and still fits the canvas. A browser source can keep displaying a previously loaded state until refreshed, so changing a setting in the dashboard alone is not a reliable visual check.
If the source remains blank or unchanged, check in this order: confirm the source is visible and not hidden behind another layer; confirm the URL belongs to the correct campaign; refresh it; then reopen the campaign overlay settings and copy the current URL if the widget configuration has changed. Avoid making several unrelated changes at once, because it becomes harder to identify which adjustment fixed the display.
Repeat the refresh check after edits that change the overlay’s size, content or style, and again after any campaign switch. For a stream that runs overnight or around the clock, include this in your pre-event and post-edit routine rather than assuming a source that worked yesterday will show today’s version. If your main challenge is replacing material in a continuous broadcast rather than adjusting an overlay, see our notes on changing videos in a running YouTube loop.
Put the donation link where viewers can act
Once the overlay is ready, place the public campaign donation link in the stream description and make it easy to find in chat where the platform allows. Tiltify’s YouTube guide recommends creating the livestream ahead of the event, including a call to action with the donation link, and pinning the campaign URL in chat at the start. Keep the message plain: explain that the campaign link is where contributions go, and distinguish it from YouTube Super Chat if both appear in the interface.
Do not rely on an on-screen alert to tell viewers how to donate. A person watching a replay, viewing on a small screen or arriving after a message scrolls away may not see the same prompts as someone watching live. Put the link in the places viewers can revisit, and ask a moderator to help keep the campaign link visible if you have one. Tiltify’s suggested reminders are platform guidance, not evidence that any particular timing will generate donations.
Before the event, verify the campaign is published, the correct overlay or integration is selected, and the stream scene shows the intended design. Check the public donation page separately from the browser source. If a live fundraising event matters to your channel, a 24/7 music radio monetisation guide discusses broader channel considerations without confusing them with how Tiltify routes donations.
For a channel that needs its uploaded programme to continue while the operator’s computer is off, StreamNeo removes the specific task of leaving that computer running to keep a file-based YouTube broadcast going; it does not change how Tiltify’s campaign link or donation settings work.

FAQ
Does the widget URL let viewers donate?
No. The widget URL is for loading the overlay in your streaming software, so keep it private and do not publish it as a donation link. Share the public Tiltify campaign page URL with viewers instead.
Does an OBS alert test guarantee that live donations will trigger an alert?
No. A test lets you inspect the configured display, but it cannot guarantee delivery for a future donation. Confirm the campaign selection, source visibility and current integration settings before the event, and check the relevant provider’s support guidance if something is not working.
Can I use the same setup for YouTube and Twitch?
Some parts can overlap, but the viewer-facing routes differ. OBS overlays can appear in an OBS-produced stream, while Twitch’s Tiltify Fundraising Extension is a Twitch channel panel; configure and verify each route you actually use.
What should I do after changing the widget?
Refresh the OBS browser source and check the edited result in the intended scene. If it still shows the old design, verify the campaign and copy the current widget URL from the campaign’s overlay settings before testing again.
