If a YouTube gaming VOD playlist is playing and you want to move on, show the player controls and press Next. To bypass one particular video in the middle of the list, use Hide in the playlist panel, or reorder the entry if you own the playlist.

These controls work on ordinary YouTube playlists; the fact that the videos are gaming VODs does not create a separate skip process. Queueing is a different feature for arranging videos to watch later, and its availability differs by device. The button names and locations can vary with your app version and screen.

Use Next to leave the current VOD

Open the player controls and select Next (usually shown with a skip-forward icon) to stop the current video and start the next item in the playlist. This advances from the VOD that is playing; it does not jump over a specific later entry, and it does not fast-forward within the current video. For a boring section inside the same VOD, use the seek bar instead.

On a computer, move the pointer over the player if the controls are hidden, then look for Next. On a phone or tablet, tap the video once to bring up the controls and look for the same forward control. If the player is in full-screen mode and the control is hard to find, exit full screen and open the playlist’s watch page.

Next depends on the video being played as part of a playlist. If you opened a single VOD directly, there may be no playlist sequence for the control to advance through. Check that the playlist is open and that the current video is one of its entries. A playlist panel may be collapsed or below the video on your device, so expand or scroll to it when needed.

The control is useful when you only need to leave the current video. For instance, if a tournament stream replay has ended and the next replay in the series is what you want, Next is quicker than searching for that replay manually. It does not remove or change anything in the playlist, so it is the low-impact choice when you may want to watch the skipped VOD another time.

Find playlist controls on your device

The playlist panel is where you can see the sequence and, where supported, options for an individual entry. On desktop web it is commonly displayed beside the player; on a phone it may sit beneath the player or require opening the playlist view. Tap or click the current playlist title or its panel if the entries are not immediately visible. Do not assume that a missing panel means the playlist has no controls: it may simply be collapsed or positioned outside the visible area.

In the panel, identify the entry by its title or thumbnail before acting. Gaming playlists can include long streams with similar titles, such as several ranked-session VODs from the same creator. Check the selected entry carefully; hiding or moving a neighbouring video by mistake may change what plays next.

YouTube's playlist help for Android describes options to reorder videos and temporarily hide a video from a playlist panel. The exact menu label and whether a particular control appears can vary by interface. If you do not see the option, try the playlist’s main watch page or the YouTube app rather than concluding that the feature is unavailable in India.

A playlist you made and a playlist made by someone else are different cases. You can manage ordering in a playlist you own. For another creator’s playlist, you may be able to use a panel-level hide action, but you cannot edit the creator’s underlying order. If there is no hide control in the version you are using, simply press Next when that entry starts, or open the next wanted entry directly.

Hide a middle entry you want to bypass

Use Hide when you want one entry out of the current playlist view without changing the creator’s playlist. Open the panel, locate the unwanted VOD, then open its options menu and choose the hide action if it is offered. This is more targeted than pressing Next repeatedly: it deals with the specific middle entry rather than merely moving away from whatever is currently playing.

For example, imagine the order is VOD A, VOD B, VOD C, and VOD D, and VOD C is not one you want to watch. If the panel offers Hide for C, hiding it makes the panel a practical way to bypass that entry; the remaining sequence is easier to navigate. The playlist still belongs to its creator, and hiding should not be mistaken for deleting or editing the original item.

Read the prompt or menu carefully before confirming, especially if YouTube’s wording differs from “Hide”. A remove or delete action in an owner’s playlist has a different effect from hiding an item in a viewing panel. When unsure, cancel and use Next or open the desired VOD directly. Hiding is a convenience for your current viewing context, not a claim that a video has been removed from YouTube or from the creator’s playlist.

The precise effect can depend on the screen and app version. YouTube’s help page documents playlist controls, but it does not establish identical behaviour for every TV app, browser, account or device. If the hidden entry appears again after reopening the playlist, use Next for that session or open the wanted VOD directly rather than spending time trying to force a control that is not present.

Reorder entries in a playlist you own

If you created or manage the playlist and want a particular VOD to come later, move it rather than relying on a temporary viewing control. Open the playlist’s edit or management view, find the entry and drag it to the position you want, where reordering is available. YouTube’s playlist-management instructions explain dragging entries to change their order.

Suppose your playlist contains a warm-up stream, a long tournament VOD, a highlights replay and a post-match discussion. If viewers should see the highlights before the long replay, moving the long VOD lower in your own list changes the sequence for future playback. Check the updated order before leaving the edit screen, especially on a touch device where dragging can select or open an item instead.

Reordering is a persistent playlist change, unlike simply pressing Next. It is appropriate when the sequence itself should be different for you or for people using the playlist. If the playlist belongs to another channel, you cannot use your viewing controls to change that channel’s order. You can save or create a playlist you control and arrange entries there, subject to the controls YouTube provides.

For a channel publishing a planned series of replays, sequence design is a separate task from skipping a video while watching. A useful comparison is how to keep episodes in order in a 24/7 stream: there, the concern is the order of a running channel’s content, not the controls in a viewer’s playlist. Keeping those two jobs separate helps avoid changing a public sequence just to get past one video today.

Queueing is not the same as playlist skipping

A queue is a separate, temporary sequence of videos you set up to play next. It is not the Next button, and it is not a method for skipping an entry in an existing playlist. YouTube’s computer queue instructions describe adding videos to a queue without interrupting the current watch session. That can be useful when you are choosing a fresh set of VODs to watch after the current one.

On desktop web, use a video’s menu and select Add to queue where the option is available. The queue lets you arrange upcoming viewing separately from the playlist you started with. If you just need the next item already in a playlist, press Next; adding items to a queue introduces an extra list and is not necessary.

YouTube’s help identifies queueing on phones and tablets as a Premium feature. Its Premium benefits page lists mobile queueing among those benefits. Do not assume the desktop queue flow will be present on a phone or tablet without Premium. This restriction concerns queueing, not the basic action of advancing to the next playlist entry with Next.

What you want to do Control or method What changes
Leave the current VOD Next Starts the next playlist item; leaves the playlist order unchanged
Avoid one particular entry Hide, if the panel offers it Hides that entry from the current playlist view; does not edit another creator’s playlist
Change the order in your own list Reorder by dragging, where available Changes the sequence of the playlist you manage
Make a separate watch-next list Queue Creates a distinct upcoming sequence; mobile/tablet queueing requires Premium according to YouTube Help

A queue may be the right choice if you want to watch a chosen set of clips after a current VOD without rebuilding a playlist. It is not a better version of Hide or Next; it solves a different problem. For a broader distinction between a playback sequence and a planned stream schedule, see how an M3U playlist can structure a YouTube channel schedule.

Account for app and interface differences

India does not have a special gaming-VOD skip button in the guidance reviewed here. The relevant controls are YouTube’s general player and playlist controls. The official pages cover particular platforms and localized help versions, not every account, TV app, browser or future interface, so treat the location of a button as something to verify on your own screen.

On mobile, a tap may be needed to reveal player controls, and the playlist panel may be under the video or behind a playlist title. On desktop, controls often appear when the pointer is over the video and the list can be next to it. A TV app or a cast session may use a different layout or remote-button mapping; if Next is not visible, return to the playlist screen or use a phone or computer to open the desired entry.

Autoplay is another control that can cause confusion. It starts another video automatically when the current one ends; it does not skip the current VOD on demand and it does not remove a middle playlist entry. You can turn autoplay off if you do not want playback to continue automatically. YouTube’s autoplay help explains that the setting is available on computer and mobile, with the switch placed differently by device.

If you leave autoplay on, you can still use Next manually. The distinction is timing: Next acts when you choose it, while autoplay acts after a video finishes. If an unwanted VOD starts because you left playback unattended, pressing Next moves on; if the problem is that you do not want a video to start after the current one ends, switch autoplay off instead.

For people running an always-on channel rather than just watching a playlist, viewer controls and channel operations should not be conflated. A playback playlist is a way to organise videos, but it is not a guarantee that a live broadcast will follow a stable order or remain running. If your concern is getting a prerecorded stream to continue without your own computer staying on, StreamNeo addresses that specific operating burden by running the uploaded video as a YouTube live stream while your computer is off.

Choose the quickest option for your situation

Start with the smallest action that solves the problem. If the VOD currently on screen is simply not the one you want, press Next. If you have not started playback and know which VOD you want, select it from the playlist panel directly. This avoids turning a one-time choice into a change to a playlist you may use again.

If one item keeps getting in the way, look for Hide in the panel. If you own the playlist and the sequence should be different from now on, reorder the entry. If your goal is to watch a hand-picked set of videos after the current session, use a queue on desktop web, or account for the Premium requirement on mobile and tablet. Each option has a different scope, so choosing by intent is faster than testing every menu.

Situation Fastest sensible action Check before you continue
Current VOD is unwanted Press Next Confirm the video is playing from a playlist
A particular middle item should be bypassed Hide it if available Make sure you are acting on the intended entry
Your own playlist has the wrong order Reorder the entry Verify the playlist is yours and save the intended order
You want a new set of upcoming videos Use a queue where available On a phone or tablet, YouTube Help says queueing requires Premium
Another video starts automatically after one ends Turn autoplay off This controls automatic continuation, not manual Next

If you manage gaming videos for a channel, consider whether the issue is actually about the playlist’s designed order. Repeated requests to skip the same VOD may mean the public list should be reorganised or split into a highlights list and a full-replay list. That is different from a viewer occasionally leaving one video. For practical streaming workflows beyond watching, see budget options for a 24/7 YouTube stream from a spare PC, which deals with keeping a channel live rather than navigating a playlist.

FAQ

Does Next skip to a video after the next one?

No. Next advances from the current video to the next item in the playlist sequence. To bypass a particular middle entry, use Hide if it is available in the playlist panel, or reorder the entry if you own the playlist.

Can I hide a video from someone else’s gaming playlist?

Look for a Hide option in the playlist panel, but do not assume it appears identically on every device or version. Hiding a panel entry is not the same as deleting it from the creator’s playlist. If you cannot find the option, press Next when it plays or open the next video you want directly.

Do I need Premium to skip a playlist video on my phone?

YouTube Help associates Premium with queueing on phones and tablets, not with the basic Next control in a playlist. Tap the video to reveal controls and look for Next. Queueing is a separate feature for arranging a distinct set of upcoming videos.

Does autoplay skip a VOD for me?

Autoplay starts another video after the current one ends; it does not skip the current video when you ask it to. Use Next to leave a VOD immediately, or turn autoplay off if you do not want another video to begin automatically.
