Why is Super Chat not available on my YouTube channel in India?

India supports Super Chat for eligible creators. Check YouTube Studio, channel requirements and stream settings when Supers is missing.

India is a supported location for eligible YouTube creators, so being in India alone does not explain why Super Chat is unavailable on your channel. The missing option usually relates to creator eligibility, accepted terms, a channel or video decision, or the settings on the particular live stream.

Start in YouTube Studio rather than changing your streaming software. Open Earn and look for the Supers tab or card, then compare the channel and affected broadcast with YouTube’s current requirements.

India is supported, but eligibility still applies

YouTube’s current availability guidance includes India for Super Chat and Super Stickers. That means the country is not a blanket block, but it does not mean every channel based in India receives the feature automatically.

There are two separate questions to keep apart:

  • Is the creator and channel eligible for Supers?
  • Is this particular live stream eligible to show Super Chat?

The first question covers matters such as age, location and accepted commerce terms. The second covers the broadcast itself, including whether it is public in the relevant way, whether it is suitable for the feature, and whether live chat or comments are enabled.

This distinction matters for devotional channels, bhajan loops, local news broadcasts and always-on ambience streams. A channel may have access to Supers while one scheduled stream does not show the option. Conversely, if the Supers area is missing from the channel’s Earn section, changing the video bitrate or replacing the encoder will not solve the underlying eligibility issue.

YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility and availability guidance is the best starting point because it separates supported locations, creator requirements and video-level restrictions. Check that page again when you troubleshoot, since YouTube can change feature rules and availability.

Check the Earn section for Supers

In YouTube Studio, open the Earn section and look for a Supers tab or card. YouTube uses this area to show whether the feature is available to your channel and to direct you towards the relevant setup or terms.

The exact layout can differ between Studio views, accounts and languages, so focus on the function rather than a particular button position. If you see Supers, open it and read the status and any outstanding steps. If you do not see it, do not assume that the absence is caused by India, your streaming application or the length of your broadcast.

Work through this check while signed into the channel that owns the live stream. A manager or editor may be able to view parts of Studio without having the same authority as the primary channel owner. If you manage several channels under one Google account, confirm that the channel switcher is set to the one that is actually broadcasting.

Make a note of what you find before making changes. Useful notes include:

What you see in Studio What it suggests Next check
Supers card or tab is present The channel may have access, subject to further conditions Review the terms, then inspect the affected stream
Supers area asks you to accept terms A required agreement may not be complete Read and accept the applicable terms if you agree to them
Supers area is absent Channel-level access may not currently be available Check age, location, monetisation status and YouTube guidance
Supers is present but missing on one broadcast The stream may be ineligible Check visibility, restrictions and chat settings

Do not treat an absent button in the viewer’s chat window as proof that the channel lacks access. Viewer-side visibility can be affected by the video’s settings, the viewer’s interface and whether the broadcast is live at that moment. Confirm the creator-side status first.

Review creator requirements and accepted terms

YouTube lists a minimum age of 18, residence in a supported country or region, and acceptance and compliance with the applicable commerce terms among the Super Chat requirements. India satisfies the location part of the current supported-location list, but the other conditions still need to be met.

Check the following points in order.

Confirm the account holder’s age

The relevant creator must meet YouTube’s age requirement. If a channel is operated by a team, family member or organisation, check which account and legal arrangement YouTube associates with the feature. Do not assume that the age of the person running OBS, a cloud encoder or a streaming dashboard is the age that matters.

Check the channel location

Make sure the channel’s location information and account details are not creating a mismatch. A creator who lives in India but operates a channel under another arrangement should use YouTube’s own account and monetisation guidance to understand which location is relevant. Do not change location details simply to test a theory, and do not claim access based on a location change.

Read the applicable terms

Supers are connected to YouTube’s commerce features, so accepting the relevant terms is part of the process. If Studio presents a terms prompt, open it and read what it covers. If the option is unavailable because a required agreement has not been accepted, accepting the correct terms may resolve that particular issue, subject to the remaining requirements.

YouTube’s broader guidance on how to earn money on YouTube is useful here because it explains that monetisation features can have requirements in addition to general channel monetisation. Being eligible for one earning feature does not automatically prove eligibility for every other feature.

Check for channel-level restrictions

Review any notices, warnings or policy actions shown in YouTube Studio. A channel can be based in a supported country and still lack a feature because YouTube has determined that the channel does not meet the applicable requirements. Public help pages can describe the conditions, but they cannot show the internal reason for a decision on an individual channel.

If you believe the channel meets the published conditions but the Supers card is still missing, use YouTube’s creator support or help route available in your Studio account. Include the channel URL, the exact feature that is missing, what appears in Earn, and whether the issue affects every live stream or only one. Avoid sending your stream key or other private account information.

Confirm channel and video eligibility separately

A channel-level Supers option is not the same as an automatic approval for every video. YouTube’s feature guidance identifies several types of video that are not eligible for Super Chat or Super Stickers. The affected live stream may therefore be the reason the feature is absent even when the channel can use Supers elsewhere.

For the stream in question, check whether it is:

  • age-restricted
  • unlisted
  • private
  • marked Made for Kids
  • connected to a YouTube Giving fundraiser

Also check whether live chat or comments are enabled. YouTube states that Super Chat and Super Stickers are not available when live chat or comments are turned off. This is especially easy to miss on a scheduled stream, a replay-style loop or a channel that disables chat to reduce moderation work.

A long-running stream can also pass through more than one state. You might create it as a scheduled event, start the broadcast, change its visibility, or adjust its audience setting while it is live. Check the current state of the actual broadcast rather than relying on the settings you remember choosing when you created it.

For a devotional or music channel, review the audience setting carefully. A stream made for children has different feature implications from a general-audience prayer, bhajan or meditation broadcast. Choose the setting that accurately describes the content and audience. Do not alter it solely to obtain Super Chat access.

For a local news loop, check age restrictions and any content notices on the stream. For a study or ambience channel, check whether the stream is public and whether the chat is active. The subject of the stream does not by itself determine access, but the video’s classification and settings can.

Check the affected stream’s settings

Once the Earn section and channel requirements look correct, inspect the live stream in YouTube Studio. Open the content or live control area, select the affected broadcast and review its details. The labels may vary, but the questions are stable.

Visibility and audience

Confirm that the stream is not private or unlisted if you expect Super Chat to appear. Check the audience selection and whether YouTube has applied an age restriction. If a restriction is present, read the notice instead of guessing that the encoder caused it.

Live chat and comments

Make sure live chat is enabled. A stream can be receiving video data correctly while chat is disabled, so a healthy picture does not prove that Supers can appear. If your channel uses moderation settings, distinguish between restricting messages and turning chat off entirely.

If you run a 24/7 broadcast from a fixed video file, the same principle applies as with a manually hosted event. A cloud-based or local encoder sends the picture and sound, but YouTube decides which viewer and commerce features apply to the broadcast.

For the technical side of a continuous stream, a guide to OBS settings for a nonstop YouTube stream on Airtel Xstream Fiber can help you separate connection and encoder problems from YouTube feature eligibility. If the stream is stuttering, another guide on fixing FFmpeg stream lag on a low-cost VPS covers a different class of fault. Neither type of technical fix enables Super Chat when YouTube has not made the feature available.

Check the stream from a viewer account

After confirming the creator-side settings, view the live stream as a normal viewer. Look at the live chat area rather than relying only on a screenshot from Studio. If the stream has just started, allow the page to refresh and confirm that you are viewing the intended channel and broadcast.

Do not ask viewers to send a payment merely to test the feature. A visible Super Chat control is enough for diagnosis, and a test payment may create a refund, accounting or moderation problem.

Distinguish Super Chat from Super Stickers and Gifts

Some creators describe every paid chat feature as Super Chat, but YouTube separates Super Chat, Super Stickers and other features. Identify the exact missing option before drawing a conclusion.

If the missing control is Super Stickers, check whether you enabled Gifts. YouTube announced Gifts for eligible creators in India on 7 July 2026. Its announcement says that eligible creators can turn Gifts on in the Earn hub and accept the Virtual Items Module, and that enabling Gifts removes access to Super Stickers on live streams.

That statement concerns Super Stickers. It does not say that enabling Gifts disables Super Chat, so do not use the Gifts setting as an explanation for a missing Super Chat control without other evidence.

You can read the official announcement about Gifts in India for the distinction. If Studio shows a notice about Gifts, compare the wording with the feature you are actually trying to diagnose.

This is a useful example of why feature names matter. “Supers unavailable” may refer to the whole Earn area, while “Super Chat missing from one stream” points towards stream-level eligibility. “Super Stickers disappeared after Gifts were enabled” is a different case again.

Compare with another stream only as a diagnostic

If you have more than one live stream, compare them carefully. The purpose is not to create a workaround or to claim that one format guarantees access. It is to identify whether the problem follows the channel or stays with one broadcast.

Use a second stream only if it can be configured honestly and consistently with your channel. Compare the following fields:

Check Same on both streams Why it helps
Channel and owner Yes Rules out testing the wrong channel
Visibility Record each value Finds private or unlisted status differences
Audience setting Record each value Identifies Made for Kids differences
Age restriction Record whether applied Separates stream-level restrictions from channel access
Live chat or comments On or off A disabled chat prevents Super Chat and Super Stickers
Fundraiser association Present or absent YouTube lists YouTube Giving fundraiser videos as ineligible
Supers status in Earn Same account Shows whether the issue is channel-level

For example, if Supers appears on one public stream with live chat enabled but not on an unlisted stream, the comparison points towards video-level settings. If it is missing on both and the Earn section has no Supers card, the issue is more likely to be channel-level or related to a required term.

Keep the comparison controlled. Do not change several settings at once and then assume the last change caused the result. Record the original values, make one legitimate change where appropriate, and check Studio again.

If you run an always-on channel, avoid stopping a healthy broadcast repeatedly just to test a feature. A short, properly configured test broadcast may be easier to inspect, but it still has to comply with YouTube’s policies and must not be presented as proof that the feature will appear on every future stream.

Consult current YouTube guidance before escalating

Feature availability can change, and a search result or old tutorial may describe a previous Studio layout. Use the current YouTube Help pages linked above, then check the notices and eligibility information shown inside your own Studio account.

Before contacting support, collect a concise record:

  1. The channel’s country or region and the relevant account age requirement.
  2. Whether the Supers tab or card appears under Earn.
  3. Whether the applicable commerce terms have been accepted.
  4. The URL or title of the affected live stream.
  5. Its visibility, audience setting and any age restriction.
  6. Whether live chat or comments are enabled.
  7. Whether the issue affects every stream or only this one.
  8. Whether you mean Super Chat, Super Stickers or Gifts.

Do not include your stream key, password, payment details or private identity documents in a public forum. YouTube support can inspect account-specific eligibility through its own systems; a public article or another creator cannot see that decision.

It is also worth separating a feature problem from a broadcasting problem. If your stream is offline, buffering or reconnecting, first address the encoder or connection. A guide to reconnecting a 24/7 YouTube livestream automatically on a VPS in India covers continuity concerns, but a stable broadcast still does not create access to a YouTube commerce feature.

If your main concern is keeping the channel running while your computer is switched off, StreamNeo removes the need to leave a local machine encoding continuously by turning an uploaded video into a YouTube live stream, but it cannot enable Super Chat or change YouTube’s eligibility decision.

FAQ

Is Super Chat available in India?

India is currently listed by YouTube as a supported location for eligible creators. The location alone does not guarantee access, because creator requirements, accepted terms, channel decisions and stream settings also apply.

Why is the Supers tab missing in YouTube Studio?

A missing Supers tab or card can indicate that the channel does not currently meet the relevant requirements or has not completed an applicable terms step. Check the Earn section, age and location requirements, channel notices and YouTube’s current guidance before contacting creator support.

Can an eligible channel lose Super Chat on one live stream?

Yes. A particular stream can be ineligible if it is age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, linked to a YouTube Giving fundraiser, or has live chat or comments turned off. Compare the affected stream with the channel-level Supers status rather than assuming the whole channel is blocked.

Do Gifts disable Super Chat?

YouTube’s India announcement says that enabling Gifts removes access to Super Stickers on live streams. It does not state that Gifts disable Super Chat, so treat those as separate features and check which control is actually missing.
