If live streaming is missing in YouTube Studio, first check the channel’s Feature eligibility status on a computer. For computer streaming, phone verification is the key documented access gate; mobile streaming has additional requirements, so the 50-subscriber rule should not be applied to every way of going live.

There is no separate general India-only rule in the official guidance reviewed here for ordinary live-stream access in Studio. The right diagnosis depends on the channel, the route you want to use and any restrictions or notices on that account.

Start with Feature eligibility in Studio

Open YouTube Studio on a computer and confirm that you are signed in to the Google account operating the channel you want to use. If you manage more than one channel, use the channel switcher and check its name or profile image before changing settings. A common source of confusion is checking a personal channel while intending to broadcast from a Brand Account, or the reverse.

Then go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Find the relevant access status and read what Studio says about it. YouTube’s feature-access overview places live streaming on a computer among intermediate features, which are unlocked through phone verification. Advanced access can raise daily limits, but it is not the basic documented gate for computer live streaming.

Treat this screen as a diagnostic, not a universal control panel. YouTube does not administer every live-related function through Feature eligibility, and separate features can have separate rules. If the status says enabled but you do not see the control you expected, identify which streaming route or feature you are trying to use before concluding that the channel has failed verification.

If Studio identifies phone verification as incomplete, use its verification flow. YouTube explains the phone verification process, including text and voice-call options. Code delivery can depend on the mobile operator. YouTube also notes that one phone number can be associated with no more than two channels per year, so a number used on other channels may be relevant.

Account role matters when you are trying to verify. For a Brand Account, an owner or manager can complete verification; for a channel that is not a Brand Account, only its owner can do so. If the verification option is unavailable, check the account and role rather than repeatedly requesting a code from a profile that lacks the necessary authority.

If this is the channel’s first time enabling live streaming, allow time for activation. YouTube says first-time mobile live activation can take up to 24 hours. That is useful timing guidance for that path, not a promise that every missing Studio control will appear at a precise deadline. If the feature remains absent after the stated checks and waiting period, continue with the account-status and escalation steps below.

Check computer live-stream access

For streaming from a computer, distinguish access from setup. YouTube lists several ways to broadcast, including webcam and encoder; those are methods of streaming after access is available. A webcam, OBS installation, encoder setting or faster internet connection does not unlock a channel feature that Studio still marks as unavailable.

Use the eligibility status as the starting point. If computer live streaming is not enabled and the channel is not phone-verified, complete verification using the channel owner or an authorised Brand Account role. Then revisit Studio. If verification is complete, check whether the relevant feature shows as enabled and whether a first-time activation delay applies. Do not infer that advanced access is required merely because Studio displays more than one access tier; YouTube’s table identifies phone verification for computer live streaming, while advanced access can bring higher daily limits.

The distinction is useful when comparing the computer and mobile paths:

Check Computer live streaming Mobile live streaming
Main access check Feature eligibility and phone verification Verified channel and mobile-specific eligibility
Subscriber threshold The cited feature-access guidance does not set the mobile 50-subscriber threshold for computer streaming At least 50 subscribers, according to YouTube Help
Other relevant checks Feature status, channel identity and any restrictions Restrictions in the prior 90 days, supported device and activation status
First-use timing Do not assume a universal 24-hour deadline for every missing computer control YouTube says first mobile activation can take up to 24 hours

This comparison is about eligibility, not equipment. If your computer access is enabled, choose webcam or encoder according to how you plan to produce the stream. If you are planning a continuous loop, first establish that the channel can go live; advice on how to maintain the broadcast, such as running a YouTube loop with a continuous process, addresses a different problem and cannot substitute for channel access.

Likewise, changing streaming software or moving a stream to another machine will not resolve a verification or restriction notice. Avoid buying hardware as a first response to a missing Studio control. First establish which gate applies, then choose equipment or software only if it is needed for the broadcast itself.

Check mobile requirements separately

Mobile live streaming has additional eligibility checks. YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance says a channel needs at least 50 subscribers, must be verified, must have live streaming turned on and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. The device must also be supported: the page specifies Android 8.0 or later or iOS 8 or later.

Those rules explain why a channel may be able to stream from a computer but not from a phone. A subscriber threshold shown in the mobile guidance is not evidence that computer streaming requires the same threshold. If Studio shows computer live access as enabled but the mobile app does not offer the option, check the mobile conditions individually rather than treating the app’s missing control as proof that all live streaming is disabled.

If you have just enabled mobile live streaming for the first time, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. Wait before repeatedly toggling settings or reinstalling the app. After that, confirm the app is signed in to the intended channel, the subscriber requirement is met, the channel is verified and there is no relevant restriction. The timing note is specific to first activation and should not be read as a guaranteed fix for an account with another eligibility issue.

YouTube also refers to Live streaming Playables as a separate feature. Availability information for Playables should not be treated as a general geographic restriction on ordinary live streaming. The official sources reviewed do not establish a separate general India-only rule for live access in Studio. For India, use the same account-level checks and the particular device-path requirements described above, and consult the current Help pages if a rule changes.

Review restrictions and channel notices

Next, look for an account or channel notice that explains the missing feature. Review Studio for warnings, strikes or messages about live-streaming restrictions. A channel can lose live access for policy reasons, and YouTube says restrictions may temporarily or permanently turn live streaming off. A completed phone verification does not override an active restriction.

YouTube’s live-streaming tips state that a channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and be verified to use the relevant live feature. Read the wording of the notice and its dates carefully. The 90-day condition belongs to the eligibility guidance; do not guess the cause of a restriction from the fact that the control is missing.

If you see a strike or restriction, follow the notice and the appeal or resolution process shown by YouTube. Do not attempt to evade an active restriction by switching to another channel. YouTube prohibits using another channel to get around a live-streaming restriction, and doing so can create a larger account problem rather than restoring access.

Keep the distinction between an absent control and a documented enforcement action. A missing button alone does not tell you whether the cause is verification, mobile eligibility, a delay or a restriction. Record the exact Studio status and notice text, then use those details when seeking help. Do not assume that the cause is your location or a particular device unless an official notice says so.

For creators planning a music, devotional or other always-on channel, access is only the first checkpoint. A channel that can go live still needs a reliable broadcast plan and content that follows YouTube’s policies. If your next question is about a school-managed account rather than a restriction, this guide to enabling live streaming on a channel made with a school account covers that separate account context.

What to do if access still does not appear

Use a short, ordered record rather than repeating the same setup steps. Note the channel name, the route you are trying to use (computer or mobile), the status displayed in Feature eligibility, whether phone verification is complete, whether this is the first activation and any warning or restriction shown in Studio. This makes it easier to identify the unresolved gate and to explain the issue accurately.

Then work through the likely causes in sequence:

  1. Confirm channel identity and role. Check that Studio is operating the intended channel. If it is a Brand Account, verify that your role is sufficient to complete the relevant action.
  2. Read Feature eligibility. On a computer, open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and record the status for the feature you need. Do not assume this panel controls every live-related feature.
  3. Complete phone verification if requested. Use the available text or voice option. If a code does not arrive, follow YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance and consider that operator delivery or the phone number’s channel-use limit may matter.
  4. Apply the right device rules. For mobile, check the subscriber threshold, verification, restriction history and supported operating system. Do not impose the mobile threshold on computer access.
  5. Allow for first activation where relevant. YouTube’s up-to-24-hour guidance is for first mobile activation. It does not establish that every missing computer setting must appear within that time.
  6. Review notices. If Studio shows enforcement or a live restriction, follow the notice rather than trying another channel or device to bypass it.

If the checks pass but a feature is still missing, use Send feedback in YouTube Studio and describe the sequence you followed. Include the channel context and the exact status or message, but do not include passwords or verification codes. YouTube’s help material points creators to feedback for persistent missing features; Creator Support may be available only if your channel is eligible to contact it. Neither route guarantees that access will be restored.

Avoid treating a change of internet provider, streaming computer or encoder as an account-level remedy. Those choices may matter once you can broadcast, but they do not change the Studio eligibility state. For example, a guide to estimating the power cost of an always-on OBS stream is useful when planning a computer-based broadcast, not for clearing a channel verification gate.

Once access is confirmed, decide whether a computer must remain on and connected for the broadcast you have in mind. If your planned channel uses a pre-recorded loop and you would rather not keep your own computer running, StreamNeo turns an uploaded video into a YouTube live stream, so that specific always-on workload does not depend on your home computer staying on overnight. It does not change YouTube eligibility or restrictions, and it is for YouTube only.

Before committing, compare the operating options on the pricing page. When the file and channel are ready, start free — 24-hour trial, no card.

FAQ

Is live streaming unavailable in India?

The official sources reviewed do not describe a separate general India-only rule for ordinary live-stream access in Studio. Check the channel’s own feature status, verification and restrictions; apply mobile-specific requirements only if you are trying to stream from a phone.

Do I need 50 subscribers to stream from a computer?

The 50-subscriber threshold in YouTube Help is a mobile live-streaming requirement. YouTube’s feature-access table identifies phone verification as the gate for computer live streaming, so do not use the mobile threshold to diagnose computer access.

I verified my phone number. Why is the live control still missing?

Verification is one access check, not a guarantee that every control appears immediately. Confirm the intended channel and role, check Feature eligibility and Studio notices, and allow for first-time activation timing where it applies. If the relevant checks pass and the control remains absent, send feedback with the displayed status.

Can I switch channels to get around a live restriction?

No. YouTube says creators must not evade a live-streaming restriction by broadcasting through another channel. Follow the notice and any official appeal or resolution route instead.
