How this is calculated
Electricity
Units used = watts ÷ 1000 × hours per day × days. Multiply by your ₹/kWh tariff and that is the electricity line. A 120 W desktop left on all day for a month uses about 86 units.
Broadband share
Your connection is not bought for streaming alone, so only the share you attribute to it is counted, pro-rated across the period you picked. Leave it blank to ignore it entirely.
Machine wear
Straight-line and deliberately crude: purchase price ÷ (life in years × 365) × days. It is not accounting depreciation — it is the rough daily cost of using up hardware you will replace eventually.

Questions about this tool
Does a laptop really cost that little to run 24/7?
A laptop at 45 W drawing power all day uses roughly 32 units a month — genuinely cheap. What it does not survive is a power cut, a Windows update, a closed lid, or an ISP reset, and none of those show up on an electricity bill.
Why is the answer a range of plans rather than one price?
Because a 10-day run and a 10-month run should not be priced the same way. The calculator picks whichever combination of daily and monthly slots costs least for the period you entered.
What tariff should I use if I do not know mine?
Take the total amount on your last electricity bill and divide it by the units consumed. That average is close enough for this comparison, and it is your real number rather than ours.
Is there a cheaper international plan?
No. Outside India the only plan is $19 per slot per month. We do not offer an international daily plan, so please ignore anyone quoting one.
What this tool cannot tell you
Every calculator on the internet hides its assumptions. Here are ours, in the open.
Indian electricity tariffs are slab-based and vary by state and by how much you already consume. A single ₹/unit figure is an average, not your marginal rate.
Wattage moves with load. A preset is a starting point; a ₹500 plug-in energy meter will tell you the truth for your own machine.
Not modelled: your time, a UPS, a backup internet line, cooling or air-conditioning load, and the cost of a stream that dies at 3 a.m. while you sleep.
If your electricity is cheap and your machine is efficient, running it yourself can genuinely cost less. This page will say so — what a cloud slot actually buys is the part electricity does not cover.
