If your channel is eligible, you enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio under Earn → Supers. Choose Get started, complete the prompts, accept the Commerce Product Module if YouTube asks for it, and switch Super Chat on.
A 24/7 broadcast does not have a separate Super Chat activation process. The important distinction is between channel eligibility, the settings on the individual live stream, and the way you keep the broadcast running.
Check the channel and creator requirements first
Before looking for a missing switch, check whether the channel should have access to Supers at all. YouTube’s fan-funding policy sets the basic conditions for features such as Super Chat.
The main checks are:
- The channel is in the YouTube Partner Programme.
- The creator is at least 18 years old.
- Super Chat is available in the creator’s country or region.
- The relevant YouTube terms have been accepted and continue to be followed.
- Any required Commerce Product Module has been accepted.
These checks apply to the channel, not just to the computer or software sending your live video. Installing OBS, buying an encoder, or moving the broadcast to a cloud-based workflow cannot create access to Supers when the channel itself is not eligible.
YouTube’s current expanded Partner Programme information lists an entry route involving 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the previous 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the previous 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the previous 90 days. The same page lists fan-funding features at that level, but YouTube still applies feature-specific requirements. Check the official YPP eligibility page for the current wording and for availability in your location.
Do not treat those thresholds as a guarantee that the Supers tab will appear immediately. YouTube may assess the channel and individual features separately. The practical test is whether Earn → Supers is visible in your Studio account and whether YouTube allows you to begin the setup.
For a devotional, bhajan, study, ambience, or regional-language channel, also consider how the content is presented. A long-running channel still needs to follow YouTube’s monetisation, copyright, community, and commerce rules. Super Chat access is a platform feature, not permission to use music, footage, images, or recordings that you do not have the right to broadcast.
Open Earn, then Supers in YouTube Studio
Sign in to the Google account that manages the channel and open YouTube Studio. From the left-hand menu, select Earn. If the channel is eligible and the feature is available, look for the Supers tab.
The current documented path is:
| Stage | Where to look | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | YouTube Studio | You are working in the channel dashboard, not the public watch page. |
| 2 | Earn | This is where YouTube groups monetisation and fan-funding features. |
| 3 | Supers | The tab contains the Super Chat and related Supers setup when available. |
| 4 | Get started | YouTube begins the channel-level activation prompts. |
| 5 | Commerce and feature settings | You accept required terms and turn on the available feature. |
The Supers tab only appears when YouTube considers the channel eligible. If you cannot see it, do not assume that the control has moved to the live control room or that a 24/7 stream needs a special URL. First return to the eligibility checks in the previous section.
YouTube’s official Super Chat and Super Stickers instructions are the best reference if the labels in Studio differ slightly from the ones above. YouTube can change the arrangement of Studio pages while keeping the underlying process the same.
This is also why the stream method should not distract you. You might use a webcam, mobile device, console, encoder, OBS, or a pre-recorded video workflow. The Super Chat switch is in Studio at channel level. You do not need to buy an encoder simply to expose the Supers setting.
Choose Get started and complete the prompts
When Get started is available, select it and work through each prompt shown by YouTube. Read the terms rather than clicking through on the assumption that the 24/7 format changes them. The setup can ask you to confirm information about the channel, monetisation, and fan-funding products.
You may be asked to complete or confirm steps such as:
- agreement to the terms that apply to fan funding
- confirmation of the channel’s payment or monetisation setup
- acceptance of a Commerce Product Module
- acknowledgement of feature rules and creator responsibilities
- selection of the Supers feature you want to use
The exact sequence can depend on what the channel has already completed. A channel that has already accepted one part of YouTube’s monetisation terms may see fewer prompts than a channel entering the process for the first time.
Keep a record of what YouTube asks you to accept. If a prompt cannot be completed, note its wording and return to the channel’s Earn area rather than repeatedly changing live-stream settings. A missing commerce agreement and a disabled live chat are different problems and need different fixes.
Once the setup is complete, allow Studio time to display the available controls. Do not infer that a stream is ready for Supers merely because the channel has started broadcasting. Channel activation and stream readiness are related, but they are not the same step.
Accept the Commerce Product Module when prompted
The Commerce Product Module, usually shortened to CPM, is part of the terms that govern certain YouTube commerce and fan-funding features. If YouTube presents the CPM during setup, read it and accept it only if you agree to the terms and the channel can comply with them.
If you skip or decline a required module, the activation may not finish. That does not mean that your stream software is failing. It means the channel-level commercial setup is incomplete.
YouTube’s terms and policies for fan-funding features should be checked directly when you are unsure what applies. Policies and availability can change, and a page written for one country may not describe every condition in another.
You should also distinguish accepting terms from earning money. Turning on Super Chat makes the feature available where the stream and viewer conditions permit it. It does not promise a particular number of messages, a particular income, or continued access if the channel later stops meeting YouTube’s requirements.
YouTube states that creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. Its explanation says that this calculation is made after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees, while YouTube currently covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. Treat that as a description of YouTube’s stated calculation, not as a forecast of what a particular channel will receive.
Switch on Super Chat
After the required prompts are complete, find the Super Chat control in the Supers area and switch it on. Save or confirm the setting if Studio presents a separate confirmation step.
This is the point at which many 24/7 operators look for a special “continuous stream” option. There is no separate 24/7 activation flow documented in YouTube’s setup instructions. The channel-level setting is the same whether you plan one short live session, a scheduled broadcast, or a channel that is intended to run continuously.
The individual live stream still has to support Super Chat. Before you start the broadcast, check that it is not:
- private or unlisted
- age-restricted
- marked Made for Kids
- a YouTube Giving fundraiser
Super Chat is also unavailable when live chat or comments are turned off. These restrictions mean that a channel can have Super Chat enabled in Studio while a particular broadcast cannot accept it.
For a public devotional stream, for example, you might enable Supers at channel level and then schedule a public live event with live chat enabled. If the same video is later made unlisted for a private test, the channel setting has not necessarily failed; the individual stream no longer meets the conditions for the feature.
Keep the live chat setting in your launch checklist. It is easy to disable chat while testing moderation or reducing distractions, then forget that this also removes the route through which Super Chat messages appear. If you need stronger controls, use moderation settings rather than turning chat off without checking the effect on Supers.
A separate chat moderation guide for always-on streams can help you prepare filters, moderators, and review habits for the hours when nobody is watching the dashboard. Moderation is part of operating an interactive live channel; it is not a substitute for meeting the eligibility requirements.
Why the Supers tab or switch may be missing
A missing Supers tab is usually a reason to check eligibility, not evidence that YouTube has hidden a 24/7-only setting. The documented workflow starts with the tab appearing for an eligible channel. If the tab is absent, work through the following checks in order.
The channel is not yet eligible
Confirm YPP status, the creator’s age, supported country or region, and the relevant commerce terms. If the channel is still being reviewed or has not reached the applicable requirements, the control may not be available.
The account or channel is not the one you intended
Multi-channel Google accounts can make this surprisingly easy to miss. Check the channel name and profile image in Studio before diagnosing a feature problem. A different channel under the same login may have different eligibility and monetisation settings.
A required agreement is incomplete
Look for unfinished prompts in Earn and read any message about terms, payment setup, or the Commerce Product Module. Do not treat the absence of a switch as a live encoder fault when Studio is still waiting for a channel-level agreement.
The stream itself is restricted
If the Supers tab exists but Super Chat is unavailable on the live video, inspect the stream’s visibility, audience setting, age restriction, fundraiser status, live chat, and comments. A public channel-level setting cannot override a restriction on an individual video.
Studio has not refreshed the state
After completing a prompt, sign out and back in if the page appears unchanged, then check the Earn area again. You can also test from a current desktop browser and confirm that you are using the correct channel. Avoid making repeated changes to the live stream while the channel setup is still unresolved.
If the official eligibility and policy pages indicate that the channel should qualify but Studio still does not show Supers, use YouTube’s own support route from Studio. Include the channel, the exact missing tab or message, and the steps already completed. Do not send your stream key or other private account information in a public support forum.
Confirm live chat and stream readiness
Once Super Chat is enabled, test the broadcast as an operator would, not only as an account owner. Create or schedule the live stream with the intended visibility, audience designation, and chat settings. Then confirm that the live chat panel is present when viewing the public watch page from an account that is not the channel owner.
For a continuous stream, decide how the video will reach YouTube. YouTube supports encoder-based broadcasts as well as mobile, webcam, and console methods. Its encoder streaming guidance explains the general process of creating or scheduling the stream, copying the stream URL and key into the encoder, and starting the transmission.
An encoder is one broadcast method, not a Super Chat requirement. If you use OBS, check the practical failure points before going live: the correct channel is selected, the stream key belongs to the intended event, the output is stable, and the computer will not sleep or install updates overnight. The OBS settings guide for a 24/7 YouTube stream in India covers the operational side of a local setup.
If you want the broadcast to continue while your own computer is switched off, StreamNeo removes the need to leave your streaming computer running by letting you upload the video, connect the YouTube channel with its stream key, and keep the broadcast running with automatic monitoring and restart when a drop occurs. You still need to configure YouTube eligibility, stream visibility, audience settings, and live chat yourself.
A 24/7 stream also creates an archive question. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not promise viewers that an uninterrupted day-long broadcast will become one complete replay. If the recording matters, keep a separate local copy where practical and plan how you will retain or publish shorter recordings.
Before testing a Super Chat message, review the public watch page, not only the Studio preview. Confirm that chat is available, the stream is not age-restricted or Made for Kids, the video is not unlisted or private, and the channel is displaying the expected live status. A short controlled test is safer than discovering after an overnight broadcast that chat was disabled at launch.
For channels built around music or visual loops, readiness includes the media itself. A guide to streaming relaxing music with nature footage explains a related content workflow, while the Super Chat setting remains a separate YouTube Studio task. Make sure your broadcast rights and audience settings are correct before inviting viewers to support it.
A practical launch checklist
Use this order when preparing the first always-on broadcast after enabling Supers:
- Confirm the correct YouTube channel is selected in Studio.
- Check YPP, age, country or region, and applicable commerce-term requirements.
- Open Earn → Supers and complete Get started if it is available.
- Accept the Commerce Product Module when YouTube presents it and you agree to it.
- Switch on Super Chat and confirm that Studio shows the feature as enabled.
- Create or schedule a public live stream.
- Check that the stream is not age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Leave live chat and comments enabled if you want Super Chat to be available.
- Connect the chosen broadcast method and verify the public watch page.
- Plan separate recording if retaining a complete 24/7 replay matters.
This order separates account problems from broadcast problems. If the Supers tab is missing at step three, keep working on eligibility and terms. If the tab exists but viewers cannot use Super Chat at step eight, inspect the individual stream settings instead.

FAQ
Does a 24/7 YouTube stream need a separate Super Chat activation?
No. YouTube’s documented workflow is channel-level: open Earn → Supers, choose Get started, complete the prompts, accept the required commerce terms, and switch on Super Chat. A continuous broadcast still has to meet the separate restrictions for the individual live video.
Why can I not see the Supers tab in YouTube Studio?
The Supers tab appears only when YouTube considers the channel eligible. Check YPP status, age, supported country or region, required terms, and whether you are viewing the intended channel before troubleshooting your streaming software.
Can I use Super Chat if live chat is disabled?
No. Super Chat depends on live chat being available, and YouTube also lists restrictions for private, unlisted, age-restricted, Made for Kids, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. Enable the appropriate chat setting and check the public watch page before relying on the feature.
Does using an encoder turn on Super Chat?
No. An encoder sends the broadcast to YouTube, but the Super Chat control is enabled in YouTube Studio. You can choose an encoder, webcam, mobile, console, or another supported broadcast method without changing the channel-level activation path.
