If you only want a playlist to keep playing on your own screen, use YouTube’s playlist Loop control. If you want the public to watch a continuous live channel, looping a playlist on your device is not enough: you need a separate broadcast workflow that sends an encoded stream to YouTube.

Airtel broadband can support either use case, but you should check the current terms for your own connection rather than treating “unlimited” as meaning unrestricted. Playback mainly depends on download stability and whether YouTube pauses for confirmation; broadcasting depends on sustained upload capacity, encoder settings, recovery and content rights.

First decide what “stream” means

The word “stream” covers two different activities here.

The first is personal playback. You open YouTube, select a playlist and leave it playing on a television, phone or computer. Other people do not receive a new live broadcast from you. Your Airtel connection is simply downloading YouTube’s existing videos to your device.

The second is public broadcasting. You use a channel and an encoder to send video and audio to YouTube Live. Viewers watch a live event or continuous channel on your YouTube page. The source may be a recorded playlist of your own devotional videos, music, news segments or study material, but YouTube receives it as an outgoing live feed.

These are not interchangeable. Selecting Loop on a watch-page playlist does not create a public livestream, and leaving a browser open does not give YouTube a new broadcast signal. For the broadcast case, start with a separate workflow such as the one explained in how to stream a playlist to YouTube Live with FFmpeg, then test it before committing to an unattended schedule.

Your aim What happens Main connection concern What you need
Watch a playlist repeatedly YouTube plays existing videos on your device Download stability and playback interruptions YouTube app or browser, a device that stays awake
Broadcast a channel publicly An encoder sends a live feed to YouTube Sustained upload speed and recovery YouTube Live, encoder, source files and rights
Run an unattended channel without your computer A hosted service handles the continuous playback and broadcast The service’s connection and monitoring, plus your account setup Uploaded file, stream key and a tested YouTube channel

Keeping this distinction clear prevents a common failed setup: a person leaves a playlist running overnight, then discovers that no live event was created for viewers.

Loop a YouTube playlist for personal viewing

For personal viewing, open one of the videos in the playlist on YouTube. On a computer, expand the playlist panel if it is collapsed, then select the Loop icon. The control should indicate that the playlist, rather than only the current video, will repeat. YouTube documents this control in its playlist playback help.

On a television or gaming console, select the playlist and use the Repeat control until it shows playlist repeat. The wording and position can vary by device, so check what the control is set to rather than assuming that a single tap has enabled the intended mode.

A simple test is useful. Let the final item in the playlist finish while you are watching the screen. Confirm that YouTube returns to the first item in the same playlist. If it moves to a suggested video, stops, or asks for confirmation, the device may be using a different playback setting or may have reached an inactivity check.

For overnight playback, check the device as well as YouTube. Disable sleep or automatic shutdown where appropriate, keep the display from powering down if that affects playback, and make sure the app is not being closed by a battery or background-data setting. A television, phone and computer can each handle long playback differently.

A wired Ethernet connection is optional, but it can remove one source of wireless variation between the router and the playback device. YouTube says that hardwiring may help, while also noting that it cannot fix an Airtel outage or every problem on a shared home network. If you use Wi-Fi, place the device where its signal is reliable and avoid putting it behind several walls or inside a cabinet.

This approach is suitable when one household wants a bhajan playlist, ambience loop or study playlist to continue on a screen. It is not suitable when you need viewers to find a live channel on your YouTube account.

Autoplay is not playlist Loop

Autoplay and playlist Loop solve different problems.

Playlist Loop repeats the selected playlist. It is tied to the playlist you opened and is the control to use when you want the same chosen collection to start again after its last item.

Autoplay decides what should play next. It generally advances to another video based on YouTube’s recommendations, viewing context and the current item. It may keep the viewing session moving, but it does not mean “repeat this exact playlist forever”. Turning on Autoplay is therefore not a substitute for selecting the playlist Loop control.

YouTube describes Autoplay and its device-specific behaviour in its official Autoplay help. The control can also be affected by whether you are using the web player, mobile app, television or another supported device.

For a practical check, use a short playlist with a recognisable first and last video. Enable playlist Loop, leave Autoplay in the state you normally use, and observe what happens at the end. If the next item is not from the selected playlist, do not rely on that setting for an unattended station.

Autoplay can still be useful for ordinary viewing when you want YouTube to choose the next related item. It is simply the wrong control if your requirement is a defined sequence that returns to its beginning.

Expect inactivity and continue-watching interruptions

Even a correctly looped playlist may not play unattended without interruption. YouTube can pause playback and ask whether you are still watching. The timing and presentation can vary with the device, account, connection type and client version, so a setup that continues on a computer is not proof that the same playlist will continue on a television or phone.

YouTube’s help documentation describes an inactivity stop on Wi-Fi and continue-watching prompts whose intervals vary across mobile, web and television experiences. Treat those details as behaviour to verify on the actual device, not as a promise that every client will wait the same length of time.

Run the test under the conditions you intend to use:

  • Use the same device, YouTube account and connection.
  • Start the playlist with the Loop control enabled.
  • Leave it long enough to reach a point where an inactivity prompt might appear.
  • Check whether the device remains awake and whether the YouTube app stays in the foreground.
  • Confirm that a router restart, brief Wi-Fi loss or device update does not leave playback stopped.

If a person is available to respond, these prompts may be a minor inconvenience. They are a serious limitation for a shop display, prayer room, waiting area or unattended overnight screen. You can reduce ordinary device failures, but you should not design around a claim that watch-page playback is guaranteed to run indefinitely without a human check.

Also separate playback interruption from data exhaustion. A playlist may stop because of an inactivity prompt even when the broadband connection is healthy. Conversely, the video may buffer because the local network is busy even though YouTube has not asked for confirmation.

Check Airtel’s current plan terms

Airtel’s India residential Xstream Fiber pages advertise plans as unlimited, but that label should not be read as “there is no applicable Fair Usage Policy”. Airtel’s published broadband terms state that FUP is imposed after consumption of 3333 GB in a billing cycle, after which the listed speed is reduced to 1 Mbps. That is a vendor limit: it is as listed on Airtel’s site in September 2026, and you should confirm the current wording for your account before relying on it.

The relevant Airtel Xstream Fiber terms can change, and plan availability or terms may vary by location and subscription. Check your order confirmation, Airtel account and current terms, or ask Airtel to confirm the FUP and post-threshold treatment for your connection. Do not assume that a plan advertised as unlimited has identical conditions to another Airtel plan.

For ordinary playlist playback, the amount of data used depends on factors such as video quality, codec, viewing time, device behaviour and whether the player changes quality. Do not turn the 3333 GB figure into a fixed number of viewing hours without measuring the actual playback conditions. A high-quality video watched continuously can use more data than a lower-quality stream, but the source and device determine the result.

For a household with several users, include every device when considering the monthly allowance. A television playing YouTube, phones backing up photos, software updates and another person watching video all draw on the same connection. The broadband account’s usage measurement is broader than the one playlist you are thinking about.

If Airtel applies a reduced speed after the relevant threshold, that may affect both video playback and any upload-based broadcast. The exact effect depends on the stream’s requirements and the other traffic on the line. The safe decision is to verify the current account terms before planning a channel that must run throughout a billing cycle.

A public livestream needs an encoder

If your aim is a public 24/7 channel, do not use a browser playlist as the broadcast engine. Prepare the source material, arrange it into a sequence, and use an encoder workflow that sends the resulting video and audio to YouTube Live.

YouTube’s official encoder guidance covers the source resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate settings. For H.264, its current table lists 4 Mbps for 360p at 30 frames per second, 3 Mbps for 480p30, 6 Mbps for 720p30 and 10 Mbps for 1080p30. These are recommended live-ingestion settings, not measurements of ordinary YouTube playlist playback or a guarantee that Airtel can sustain them.

Create the YouTube live event, copy the stream key into the encoder, select the intended resolution and frame rate, then run a private or unlisted test before making the channel public. Watch YouTube Studio’s stream health while the test runs. Confirm that audio is present, the picture is in the expected proportion, the source changes at the intended points and the stream recovers after a controlled short interruption.

A pre-recorded channel needs its own checks. Make sure the playlist really reaches its end and starts again, that one missing file cannot stop the entire sequence, and that audio levels are consistent. If your source includes news, worship, ambient music or lessons from third parties, confirm that you have permission to broadcast each item. A public YouTube playlist is not automatically a licence to retransmit its videos.

YouTube’s copyright and fair use guidance explains that fair use is decided case by case and that a disclaimer does not establish permission. Playlist organisation and metadata also remain subject to YouTube policy. If you did not create or license the material, obtain advice appropriate to your jurisdiction before building a public channel around it.

A hosted workflow can remove the need to leave your personal computer running. StreamNeo turns an uploaded file into a YouTube live stream: you upload the file once, add your YouTube stream key, and the broadcast runs while your computer is switched off, with automatic monitoring and restart if it drops. You still need to own or have permission to use the material, and you should test the channel and account settings yourself.

If you intend to run the encoder from your own computer, recovery is part of the design rather than an optional extra. Consider what happens after a power cut, Windows or macOS update, encoder crash, Airtel router restart or brief loss of connectivity. A process that works while you are watching it may not restart without intervention. For a self-managed setup, how to restart an FFmpeg YouTube stream automatically on a VPS explains the recovery problem in more detail, although a VPS is not the only possible approach.

Measure upload capacity, not just download speed

Airtel’s advertised download speed does not prove that your connection can sustain the upload required by a live broadcast. The encoder sends data out of your home, so the relevant measurement is upload speed under realistic conditions.

YouTube states that the total bitrate of the stream cannot exceed the available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving about 20 per cent headroom. This guidance appears in YouTube’s streaming tips. If the encoder is set to 10 Mbps, do not treat a speed test that barely reaches 10 Mbps as comfortable capacity. Other household traffic, Wi-Fi variation and protocol overhead still need room.

Test at the time and location you expect to broadcast. If the encoder will use Ethernet beside the router, test there. If it will use Wi-Fi in another room, test under those conditions. Repeat the test when other household devices are active, because a quiet test during the day does not represent a busy evening.

Use YouTube’s stream health indicators during a sustained test rather than relying on one speed-test result. Look for dropped frames, unstable bitrate, audio problems and repeated reconnects. A connection can show a good short-term result while still suffering from interference or congestion during longer use.

A wired connection may help between the router and the encoder. It does not guarantee uninterrupted service, and it will not prevent an Airtel fault or a power failure. Keep the router and encoder on suitable power protection if that is practical, and decide who will receive an alert or restart the system when you are not present.

For troubleshooting, identify which side failed. If YouTube reports insufficient incoming data, inspect upload capacity, encoder bitrate and local network use. If the encoder is running but the picture has no sound, inspect the source and audio settings. If the connection drops altogether, no change to playlist Loop will repair the broadband link. You can also use YouTube’s stream health troubleshooting guide when the broadcast is already configured.

Choose the workflow that matches the job

For a household screen, use YouTube’s playlist Loop control and test the device for sleep and continue-watching prompts. Keep the Airtel terms in mind, particularly if the screen runs for long periods or shares the connection with several people.

For a public channel, build a real encoder workflow. Measure upload capacity, leave headroom, test the exact source sequence and plan for recovery. Do not describe the result as a 24/7 channel until you have checked the full path from source file to YouTube viewers.

For either case, keep rights separate from technical setup. A stable connection does not make third-party material yours, and a live encoder does not change YouTube’s copyright or playlist rules. Keep records of licences, permissions and original files where they matter.

Before committing, compare the operating options on the pricing page. When the file and channel are ready, start free — 24-hour trial, no card.

FAQ

Does playlist Loop create a YouTube Live broadcast?

No. Playlist Loop repeats videos for playback on your device. A public live broadcast requires a YouTube Live event and an encoder that sends an outgoing feed to YouTube.

Is Autoplay the same as looping a playlist?

No. Autoplay chooses what may play next, usually from related or recommended videos. Playlist Loop is the control for repeating the selected playlist.

Does Airtel unlimited broadband mean there is no FUP?

Not necessarily. Airtel’s published broadband terms list a 3333 GB billing-cycle FUP followed by reduced speed, but plan terms can change and may vary. Check the current terms attached to your own connection.

Can I run a 24/7 broadcast from a normal home broadband connection?

Possibly, if the upload capacity is stable and sufficient for the encoder bitrate, with headroom for other traffic. Test the exact setup, plan for power and connection failures, and confirm that every broadcast item is yours or properly licensed.
