YouTube Help says a phone number can be associated with up to two channels per year. If you run a channel in India, verify it in YouTube Studio or at youtube.com/verify, then check Feature eligibility separately: phone verification helps unlock live streaming, but it does not remove every live-stream limit.

The useful first step is to identify the problem you actually have: no code, a maximum-number error, or successful verification with a live-stream control that is still unavailable or limited. Those are different issues, and the documented fix for one will not necessarily fix another.

How many channels can one number verify per year?

YouTube Help states that, to help prevent abuse, a phone number can be associated with two channels per year. The limit is about the number of channels associated with the number, not simply how many times you press the send-code button. Retrying the same number does not clear the association limit.

YouTube’s published rule applies to creators in India as well. The India-specific help page describes a phone-verified label for channels based in India, but it does not set out a different quota. So if you see a maximum-number message, treat it as a number-cap issue rather than evidence that India has a separate route around the cap.

The policy does not mean that every channel using a shared household, team, or business number will be able to verify. If that number has already been associated with two channels during the relevant year, YouTube directs you to use a different number. A channel owner should not assume that changing Google accounts, browser sessions, or devices resets the channel association.

For a devotional channel and a separate study channel, for example, one person may be able to use a number for both if it has not already reached the stated limit. If a third channel prompts the maximum-number error, the practical next step is a different eligible number, not repeated requests to the first one. The help material does not establish buying a SIM or a handset as a special workaround; a new device does not change the platform’s rule.

Keep the distinction clear when troubleshooting: a code that has not arrived is a delivery problem, while an explicit maximum-number notice is a cap problem. The first may respond to a different delivery method or carrier. The second calls for a different number under YouTube’s guidance.

Verify through Studio or YouTube’s verification page

For an India-based channel, the route in YouTube Studio is Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility → Intermediate features → Verify phone number. You can also use YouTube’s verification page in a browser and follow the prompts for the channel you want to verify. The labels can move as YouTube updates Studio, so use the current on-screen route if it differs slightly.

Check that you are signed in to the intended channel before starting. Creators who manage several channels under one Google account can easily verify the wrong one, then wonder why the expected feature remains unavailable elsewhere. After entering the number and receiving a code, submit it for that specific channel and return to Feature eligibility to confirm the status.

YouTube’s India help page explains that phone verification enables intermediate features and that the phone-verified label is visible to users in India. That label is a platform status, not a judgement about a channel’s content or its right to broadcast indefinitely. You can read the India-specific explanation of phone verification before following the Studio steps.

The code route is not a substitute for reviewing the channel’s feature state afterwards. Verification may complete successfully while a live-stream control remains limited for another reason, or while the channel is still subject to a daily limit. Think of verification as one eligibility step, then check the actual status shown for your channel rather than relying on a remembered checklist.

If you are setting up a continuous playlist only after the channel is eligible, the broadcast setup is a separate task. A guide to creating a 24/7 YouTube music stream with a playlist covers that side; it cannot change a verification cap or account eligibility.

If the number has reached its limit

When YouTube reports that the maximum number of accounts has been reached, use another number that can receive Google’s verification message or call and has not hit the association limit. The same number cannot be made eligible by trying again later in the same flow. YouTube Help’s instruction is to use a different phone number.

If the number belongs to a family member, colleague, or organisation, ask whether it has already been used to verify two channels during the year. Do this before repeated attempts, particularly where several people share a business contact number. The owner should understand which channel is being verified and be available to receive the code; do not treat their number as a reusable pool for unlimited channels.

TeamYouTube has also advised creators with persistent verification trouble to try a different number, including one on a different carrier that supports Google messages. That is troubleshooting guidance, not permission to exceed the two-channel limit. If another eligible number still produces an error, follow YouTube’s current Help or Creator Support route rather than testing batches of numbers.

Avoid advice that says to reset a phone, change a device, use a signal booster, or repeatedly request codes to bypass the cap. None changes YouTube’s stated channel association rule. Nor should you assume that ID or video identity checks for advanced features erase the phone-number association; the documented material presents those as distinct feature-access steps.

It helps to keep a simple record for a small team: which channel was verified, which number was used, and who controls that number. This is not a way to extend the allowance. It is a practical way to avoid losing time on an already-used number when the next channel needs intermediate features.

Why is the verification code not arriving?

First check whether you selected SMS or voice call and whether the number is entered in the right country format. If the SMS does not arrive after a few minutes, YouTube says you can try the voice-call option. The message may be delayed, and some operators may not support Google verification texts or calls.

For an India-based creator, a working phone for ordinary calls does not prove that it will receive this particular automated message. Carrier filtering, short-term delivery delays, and unsupported message types can all make a code appear absent. Wait briefly, check that the phone has service, then make one sensible retry using the alternate method rather than requesting codes repeatedly in quick succession.

If the SMS is still missing, ask the carrier whether Google’s verification messages or calls are supported on that number. If you have access to another eligible number on a different carrier, it can help distinguish a delivery issue from a number-specific problem, provided that number has not reached its channel limit. Do not infer that every delayed code means the two-channel cap has been reached; YouTube presents these as separate failure modes.

When the voice-call option is available, answer the call and enter the code exactly as given. Keep the Studio page open while you do so, and make sure you are completing the flow for the correct channel. If the attempt eventually displays a maximum-number error, stop troubleshooting delivery and switch to the cap steps in the previous section.

If neither channel receives a code and Studio gives no useful error, consult YouTube’s current account verification troubleshooting guidance. YouTube’s interface and delivery behaviour can change, so the official page should take precedence over old forum instructions. Avoid sharing a one-time verification code with anyone claiming they can complete the process for you.

Check live-stream feature eligibility and limits

After phone verification, go back to YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Confirm that the intermediate features row is enabled, then inspect the live-stream option and any notices beside it. A successful verification message alone does not prove that every live-streaming feature is available in the way you expect.

YouTube’s feature-access table distinguishes computer live streaming at the phone-verification tier from access with advanced features. It describes a limited daily limit for computer live streaming at the phone-verified level and a higher daily limit with advanced access. The help page does not make phone verification a promise of unlimited or unrestricted broadcasts. Check the current table and the status shown for your channel before planning a long programme schedule.

What you see in Feature eligibility What it means for your next step
Intermediate features are not enabled Complete the phone-verification flow, then return to Studio and confirm the status.
Intermediate features are enabled, but computer live streaming has a daily limit The channel is at the phone-verification tier for this feature; review the current feature-access information and your channel’s status.
Advanced features are available YouTube’s table indicates a higher daily computer live-stream limit than at the phone-verification tier, but it is still not a promise of unlimited access.
Verification succeeded but a live control is still unavailable Check the channel’s exact eligibility notice and current YouTube Help guidance instead of assuming the number needs another code.

Advanced access is a separate step after phone verification. YouTube says creators may build sufficient channel history or, when offered, verify identity by ID or video. These choices are not available to every creator, and history depends on channel and account activity. YouTube’s advanced features guidance says sufficient history usually takes 24 hours for most active channels; that is typical guidance, not a guarantee for a particular channel.

A computer-streaming daily limit matters if you plan to run a study loop, local news rotation, or a continuous bhajan stream. Check the current limit before scheduling repeated starts or treating a temporary block as a fault in your encoder. If your plan relies on a long-running channel, the separate guide to setting up a 24/7 stream with cloud-based playout can help you think through the broadcast arrangement, but eligibility still comes from YouTube.

Where the recurring operational problem is leaving a home computer on overnight, StreamNeo removes that particular burden by taking an uploaded video and running it as a YouTube live stream while your computer is off; it does not alter YouTube verification status or eligibility. For a local setup instead, review the trade-offs in running OBS for a nonstop YouTube livestream, then choose only after the channel’s own feature status is clear.

Keep three questions separate: did the number receive a code, was the phone number accepted under the annual channel cap, and does this channel currently have the live-stream access it needs? Answering them in order prevents you from replacing a working number when the actual issue is an eligibility tier, or rebuilding a broadcast setup when the platform has not enabled the feature.

FAQ

How many YouTube channels can one phone number verify per year?

YouTube Help says a phone number can be associated with up to two channels per year. If you see a maximum-number error, use a different eligible number; retrying the same number does not remove the cap.

Why is my YouTube verification code not arriving?

Delivery can be delayed, and some carriers may not support Google verification messages or calls. Try the voice-call option, check with your carrier, and distinguish a missing code from an explicit maximum-number error.

Why can’t I live stream after verifying my channel?

Phone verification enables intermediate features, but it does not remove all live-stream limits. Check Feature eligibility in Studio: computer live streaming has a limited daily limit at the phone-verification tier, while advanced access can provide a higher daily limit.

Does advanced verification bypass the phone-number limit?

YouTube describes channel history or, where offered, ID or video verification as routes to advanced features after phone verification. Its guidance does not say those routes bypass the two-channel-per-year phone-number association cap.
