A Brand Account channel can be phone-verified by its owner or a manager. However, phone verification only unlocks access to certain features; it does not by itself confirm that the channel can start a live stream.

To check the real position of your channel, open YouTube Studio and review Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. You must also meet YouTube’s separate live-streaming requirements, including no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days and a minimum creator age of 16.

What phone verification unlocks

Phone verification links a telephone number to your YouTube channel. YouTube uses this step to unlock features that are not available to every newly created or unverified channel. Its phone verification guidance includes live streaming among the features that may become available after verification.

Verification can also help unlock longer videos, custom thumbnails and other channel features, depending on YouTube’s current feature system. The exact list and status belong to the individual channel, so treat the Feature eligibility page in Studio as the useful source of truth rather than assuming that one completed step grants every feature.

This distinction matters for a channel intended to run all night. If you verify the phone number and immediately try to start a broadcast, YouTube may still show that live streaming is unavailable. That message can reflect a restriction, an incomplete activation step, an age-related condition or a mobile-only requirement rather than a failed phone verification.

Phone verification is therefore best understood as one gate in the process:

  1. The channel is phone-verified.
  2. YouTube checks whether live streaming is available for that channel.
  3. The channel satisfies the general live-streaming rules.
  4. The chosen broadcast method meets any additional conditions.

A webcam, encoder or cloud-based workflow does not replace channel eligibility. It only provides a way to send the broadcast after YouTube allows the channel to go live. If you are preparing a recorded devotional, study or ambience file, you can work on the production separately, but do not treat the finished video as proof that the account is ready.

Who can verify a Brand Account channel

YouTube’s Brand Account guidance says that the owner and managers can phone-verify a channel. That is the important difference for a Brand Account team: the person who created the channel is not necessarily the only person who can complete the phone-verification step.

The role distinction applies to the verification action itself. It does not mean that every manager can start a broadcast solely because they are listed as a manager, and it does not remove the channel’s other eligibility checks. The current permissions and available actions should still be confirmed in YouTube Studio for the account you are using.

For a channel that is not connected to a Brand Account, YouTube’s instructions say that only the owner can complete phone verification. Do not carry the Brand Account rule across to an ordinary personal channel. The account type changes who may perform the verification step.

A practical example is a local news channel managed by two people. The Brand Account owner may ask a manager to complete phone verification, but the channel must still have live streaming available in Feature eligibility. If the manager later sees that the Go Live control is missing, repeating verification is unlikely to solve a separate restriction or activation issue.

You should also avoid confusing Brand Account roles with channel access in every YouTube surface. A role that lets someone manage parts of the channel is not automatically a statement about who may approve content, change security settings or operate every broadcast workflow. For access questions, use the permissions shown by YouTube rather than relying on an old team arrangement.

Verify the channel by phone

Use a browser if possible, particularly when you are setting up a channel for a long-running broadcast. Sign in to the Google account that has the relevant Brand Account role, then open YouTube Studio. From there, go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and follow the verification prompt if the channel is not already verified.

YouTube may ask you to choose a text message or voice call and enter the code sent to the phone number. Complete the process for the intended channel, not simply for another channel that uses the same Google account. A Google account can have access to more than one channel, and the status you need is channel-specific.

Once the code is accepted, return to Feature eligibility and check whether the phone verification state has changed. YouTube’s official verification instructions explain the current route and any limits or prompts shown during the process.

If the code does not arrive, check the number, country selection and delivery method before trying repeatedly. A voice call can be useful when text delivery is delayed. YouTube may also limit how many channels a single phone number can verify within a period, so changing browsers will not necessarily remove a platform limit.

Do not use a manager’s verification as evidence that the owner has approved the channel for every future action. Record which channel was verified, which role completed the step and what Feature eligibility shows afterwards. This small note is useful when several devotional, regional or business channels are managed from the same Google account.

Phone verification is complete only when the channel’s own Studio page reflects it. A confirmation shown while working on one channel should not be assumed to apply to another Brand Account channel.

Check the channel’s Feature eligibility

After phone verification, check the individual channel’s Feature eligibility page again. YouTube uses this page to show which features are enabled, which require action and which may be unavailable. It is more useful than a general answer about Brand Accounts because YouTube can apply restrictions or account-specific conditions that an outside guide cannot see.

Look for the live-streaming entry and read the message beside it. The page may tell you to verify the channel, enable a feature, wait for activation or resolve another issue. Take a screenshot or note the wording if you need to ask YouTube for help later. The exact message is often more informative than the fact that a Go Live button is missing.

A useful checking order is:

  • Confirm that you are viewing the intended Brand Account channel.
  • Confirm that phone verification is shown as complete.
  • Check whether live streaming is listed as available or requires action.
  • Look for any warning or restriction related to live streaming.
  • Check the method you plan to use, especially if it is the YouTube mobile app.

YouTube’s Feature eligibility help page describes where to find these controls and how verification relates to feature access. The page can change as YouTube updates Studio, so follow the labels visible in your account rather than an old screenshot.

If the page says live streaming is available but the broadcast tool still fails, try the simplest route first. Open YouTube Studio in a browser and create a private or unlisted test stream if the account permits it. This separates an account-access problem from a problem with your encoder, file, internet connection or broadcast settings.

If the page still shows no access after the visible requirements are satisfied, use YouTube’s in-product feedback or creator support route where it is available. Public help pages cannot identify an account-specific restriction, and another person’s successful Brand Account setup cannot confirm yours.

Meet the general live-streaming requirements

Phone verification is only part of the general live-streaming rules. YouTube’s current live-streaming requirements state that the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and must meet the minimum creator age of 16.

The restriction requirement is about the channel’s recent history. If YouTube has restricted live streaming, completing phone verification does not erase that restriction. Check the notice attached to the channel and follow the stated process instead of creating another channel to avoid it. YouTube’s rules also prohibit using another channel to evade an active live-streaming restriction.

The age rule concerns the creator and the operation of the stream, not the age of the Brand Account. A channel that represents a school, temple, shop or local organisation still needs an eligible person behind the live-streaming activity. YouTube also sets additional conditions for streams featuring children aged 13 to 15 when a visibly accompanying adult is not present, so review the current policy if younger people will appear on camera.

YouTube says live streams must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. That is separate from the technical question of whether the Go Live control appears. Access does not mean that any video, music track or visual can be broadcast without checking rights and platform rules.

For a recorded 24/7 channel, this means you should test the source material before committing to a long run. A devotional loop may be technically valid but still create a copyright problem if the music, images or performance rights are unclear. You can read the copyright guidance for devotional YouTube live streams while reviewing the content, but use YouTube’s current policy pages for the final position.

The general live-streaming page documents several ways to broadcast, including webcam, encoder and console. These are delivery methods, not eligibility shortcuts. If the account is not permitted to stream, changing from an encoder to a webcam will not make the channel eligible.

Requirement General live streaming Mobile live streaming
Channel verification Required Required
No live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days Required Required
Minimum creator age 16 The general age rule applies
Subscriber threshold No general threshold stated on the cited general page At least 50 subscribers
First-use activation No timing estimate stated on the cited general page May take up to 24 hours

The table separates rules that apply broadly from conditions YouTube documents specifically for mobile. It does not mean that a subscriber count can replace verification or clear a restriction.

Mobile streaming has extra requirements

Mobile live streaming has an additional subscriber condition. YouTube’s mobile live-streaming help states that the channel needs at least 50 subscribers, as well as verification and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.

That threshold applies to the mobile route, not as a general requirement for every type of live broadcast described in the cited guidance. If you intend to stream from a phone, check the mobile requirements directly. If you plan to use a browser, webcam or encoder for a pre-recorded 24/7 channel, do not assume the mobile subscriber condition is the deciding test.

Mobile access can also be affected by the channel’s history and by the app’s current state. Update the YouTube app where appropriate, sign into the correct channel and check that the Brand Account channel is selected before looking for the live control. A manager may be able to verify the Brand Account, but the app still needs to show the relevant channel and its available features.

For a mobile test, use a short private or unlisted broadcast where possible. Confirm that the channel can start the stream, that audio reaches YouTube and that the broadcast ends correctly. This is a better test of mobile access than relying on a subscriber count displayed on a different channel.

If mobile is not your intended route, do not buy a phone, camera or encoder merely to satisfy access requirements. Hardware can improve production after eligibility is established, but it cannot substitute for YouTube’s channel checks. A browser or encoder workflow may be more suitable for a long pre-recorded broadcast, while mobile is often useful for a simple event or field update.

Once the channel is eligible, production problems become a separate task. You can review recommended live-stream settings for a 24/7 stream before choosing your broadcast method, and check bitrate settings for a pre-recorded video when the source is already rendered.

Allow time for first-time activation

YouTube says the first live stream may take up to 24 hours to become available after live streaming is enabled. This is an activation window, not a promise that every channel will take that long. It is also not a reason to leave the first test until the night you plan to begin a 24/7 channel.

Enable live streaming well before the planned launch, then check Feature eligibility again later. If the option appears, run a controlled test before uploading your final loop or handing the channel to an unattended workflow. A short test can reveal that the wrong channel is selected, the stream key belongs elsewhere or the source file has an audio problem.

A sensible launch sequence is:

  1. Select the intended Brand Account channel in YouTube Studio.
  2. Complete phone verification through the owner or a manager.
  3. Recheck Feature eligibility.
  4. Confirm the channel has no relevant live-streaming restriction.
  5. Check the creator age requirement and, for mobile, the subscriber requirement.
  6. Enable live streaming and allow the activation window.
  7. Run a private or unlisted test.
  8. Only then schedule or start the public broadcast.

For an always-on channel, also plan for what happens after the first successful test. A computer-based setup can stop when the computer sleeps, reboots or loses its connection. A cloud workflow such as StreamNeo removes the need to keep your own computer running once the video and channel are ready, while YouTube eligibility and content responsibility remain yours.

If you are preparing the file on an older computer, the low-end PC preparation guide can help you separate file preparation from the later broadcast step. The important point is to establish channel access first, then test the complete route you intend to leave running.

Before committing, compare the operating options on the pricing page. When the file and channel are ready, start free — 24-hour trial, no card.

FAQ

Can a Brand Account manager verify a YouTube channel?

Yes. YouTube says that the owner and managers of a Brand Account can phone-verify the channel. This answers who may complete phone verification, not whether that person can bypass the channel’s separate live-streaming eligibility checks.

Does Brand Account verification guarantee Go Live access?

No. Phone verification unlocks features that can include live streaming, but YouTube separately checks verification status, recent live-streaming restrictions and the minimum creator age. Check the channel’s Feature eligibility page in YouTube Studio for its current state.

Is 50 subscribers required for every YouTube live stream?

The cited YouTube guidance lists at least 50 subscribers as a requirement for mobile live streaming. It does not state that same threshold as a general requirement for every streaming method, such as webcam or encoder streaming.

Why can’t my channel go live after verification?

Check that you are viewing the correct Brand Account channel, then review Feature eligibility for warnings or an activation message. Also check the previous 90-day restriction history, the age requirement and, if you are using mobile, the subscriber condition and the possible first-use wait of up to 24 hours.
