Restream’s Playlist workflow lets you assemble uploaded video files into a prerecorded broadcast and schedule that sequence as a YouTube Live event. It does not mean importing a playlist you have already made on YouTube: the documented process builds the playlist inside Restream from video files.
To schedule a YouTube live stream this way, prepare the files and playback order first, create the playlist, then create a YouTube event and confirm its scheduled link. Restream says the playlist begins automatically at the scheduled time, but the order and contents need to be settled before it goes live.
What Restream’s Playlist workflow does—and does not do
A Restream Playlist is a sequence of video files held in Restream’s Upload & Stream workflow. You select or upload the files, arrange their order, and schedule the resulting prerecorded broadcast. It suits a devotional channel with several bhajans, a study channel with a planned set of lessons, or a small business replaying a product demonstration as a live event.
That is different from choosing an existing YouTube playlist and asking Restream to pull it in. The reviewed Restream instructions describe selecting uploaded videos or uploading files in Restream; they do not document importing a native YouTube playlist. If your source material exists only as YouTube videos, do not assume the playlist can be fetched from its YouTube URL. You will need files that you are entitled to use and can upload through Restream’s workflow.
There are also two meanings of “playlist” to keep apart. A YouTube playlist is a collection of videos viewers can browse on YouTube. A Restream Playlist is the scheduled sequence used to produce a prerecorded live broadcast. The event viewers receive is a scheduled YouTube Live event, not simply a link to the underlying YouTube playlist.
Restream’s help article says this feature is available to users who have purchased an Upload & Stream add-on tier. Its guide lists a maximum of 40 video entries and a maximum total duration of 24 hours for a playlist, with duplicate copies counting as entries; confirm the current feature availability and limits on Restream’s official playlist instructions. These are Restream product rules, not general YouTube limits.
If what you need is a stream that repeats the same material continuously rather than a scheduled sequence that plays through, check the operational difference before choosing a workflow. Our guide to looping a YouTube Live playlist with one RTMP connection covers a different approach. The key question is whether the broadcast should run once at a scheduled time or remain a continuous channel.
Before you schedule: prepare your video files
Make a final folder of the video files you intend to use and decide the sequence before opening the scheduler. A useful order might be a short opening title, a set of devotional songs, a spoken introduction, then the remaining songs. If you add a countdown, decide where it belongs and how long the audience should wait before the first main video begins. The aim is to make the first minutes feel intentional rather than like a file queue starting abruptly.
Check that you can play each file from beginning to end on a local device. Listen for missing audio, long silent sections, abrupt cuts, or a different loudness level from one item to the next. Watch the start and end of each clip as well: a file that begins halfway through a sentence or ends before a song resolves will still behave that way when scheduled. Restream’s playlist preview can help you inspect the assembled sequence, but it does not replace checking the source files.
Pay attention to the total duration. If a programme is longer than Restream’s documented 24-hour playlist maximum, it will not fit as one playlist under that stated limit. Splitting it into separate playlists creates separate broadcasts rather than a single uninterrupted event; Restream says there is a two-minute buffer between back-to-back playlists. Confirm that gap is suitable before advertising an all-night devotional or ambience session.
Restream’s documentation also lists library capacity and maximum resolution by eligible add-on tier. As listed on Restream’s site in July 2026, its guide described Marathon at $79 per month with a four-hour video library and 1080p maximum resolution, and Media at $239 per month with a 12-hour library and 4K maximum resolution. These are dated Restream figures, not a recommendation or a promise that today’s plans are unchanged. Check the current Upload & Stream description and plan page before making a purchase, especially if file duration or resolution affects your choice.
A higher source resolution does not by itself guarantee a better viewer experience. A clear 1080p file with balanced sound may be more useful than a large file with clipped audio or visual problems. If the picture appears soft after a test, our notes on practical fixes for a blurry YouTube Live stream can help separate source quality from encoding or playback issues.
Finally, confirm rights and permissions for the material. A file being available online does not mean you can rebroadcast it. Restream’s playlist feature does not establish your rights to music, footage, or recordings, and scheduling an event does not remove the need to check YouTube’s current rules and any applicable rights for your content.
Create a prerecorded live playlist in Restream
From the Restream home screen, choose Pre-recorded livestream, then Playlist. If you already created a Restream playlist and want to reuse it, select that playlist from the home screen instead. The wording in the interface can change, so use Restream’s current help page if a menu label has moved.
Choose videos already uploaded to Restream, or upload the files you prepared. After selecting the videos, choose Next. You can then drag and drop items into the order you want them to play. Check the sequence from top to bottom rather than assuming upload order is playback order. Add any additional files you need, and add a countdown if it suits the event.
You can customise the playlist and preview it before scheduling. Use that point to confirm the selected clips, their order, and the opening. If you spot an error, correct it while the playlist is still being prepared. Restream says videos can be added, removed, or reordered only before the playlist goes live; during the broadcast, graphics and chat can still be edited, but the file sequence cannot be rearranged.
When the sequence is ready, choose Schedule to set when it goes live. The playlist itself is not the whole YouTube event setup: you still need to configure the destination and event information. Restream’s general guide describes selecting multiple files, ordering or editing them in Studio, then scheduling; see its schedule a stream instructions if you need to check the current sequence of screens.
If you are accustomed to keeping material on a computer running OBS, this is a different operating arrangement: a file sequence is prepared in Restream instead of being played from your local machine during the event. For context on the alternative, see running a YouTube Live stream without OBS from India. Choose based on the workflow you can reliably prepare and monitor, not on an assumption that one approach fits every channel.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
Before creating the event, make sure YouTube is enabled as a destination in your Restream account and that the connected channel is the one you intend to use. Restream says the channel owner must authorise the connection. Its YouTube guide also notes that first-time live enablement can require phone verification and a waiting period; because account conditions can change, check YouTube’s current live streaming eligibility and enablement help rather than relying on an old account-specific assumption.
When the event setup opens, enter the event title and description carefully. Use a title that says what the audience will see, such as “Evening bhajan programme” or “Quiet study music through the night”. Add the scheduled date and time, taking care to distinguish the channel’s intended local time from the time shown in the interface. If your audience is mainly in India, make the time unambiguous in any announcement you publish elsewhere.
You can upload a thumbnail and choose YouTube channel settings such as category, latency, or privacy where those options are available. Decide whether the event should be public, unlisted, or private based on who needs to find it and what you intend to test. An unlisted link can be convenient for sharing with a small group, but anyone with access to the link may be able to view it according to YouTube’s current behaviour; review the relevant privacy details before distributing it.
Restream’s YouTube event guide describes an advance event post option. If you want YouTube to show an announcement before the broadcast, select that option while creating the event; the documentation says it must be selected during event creation. Then confirm YouTube is switched on as the destination and create the event. For the interface-specific steps, refer to Restream’s guide to creating a YouTube Live event.
Do not treat the event as a harmless rehearsal if it is the actual event you plan to promote. Restream’s guide says a scheduled YouTube event can only go live once. Use preview functions or an unlisted test event for checks rather than prematurely starting the public event. If you create a separate test, clearly distinguish its title and link from the real scheduled event so a viewer or moderator does not share the wrong one.
Check the event and get its link
After creation, return to the Restream home screen and look for the scheduled event or playlist card. Confirm the channel, title, scheduled time, and destination shown there. If a detail is wrong, use the available edit or unschedule controls on the card rather than creating a second event without checking what the first one is doing. Restream says a playlist can be edited or unscheduled from its home-screen card, but videos cannot be reordered after the broadcast has begun.
Open the event on YouTube as well, if the event is visible to you, and verify that its title, thumbnail, description, and scheduled start time are what you expect. This second check matters because you are sharing the YouTube event with viewers, not merely the Restream playlist editor. If you chose an advance announcement, confirm the event appears in the channel’s upcoming live content. Visibility can depend on privacy settings and YouTube account behaviour, so do not infer that an event is missing solely because it is not public.
To share the scheduled event, use the YouTube event page’s shareable URL or the event link shown in the relevant Restream screen, then open it in a private browser window or another device where you are not signed in as the channel owner. This helps catch links to a management screen, an old event, or the wrong privacy setting. Restream says scheduled playlist links can be shared in advance for YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn; the guide cautions that other platforms may not permit advance event links. For this task, the useful destination is the YouTube event page.
Put the link where your audience will look before the start: a community post, channel description, website, or a pinned announcement. Include the date, start time and time zone in the accompanying message. If you later change the schedule, replace the old link or correct the announcement as needed; do not assume every copy of a previous message updates itself.
Test playback and troubleshoot common setup issues
Use the playlist preview before scheduling to check the files and order. After the event is created, verify the event details and link without starting the actual scheduled broadcast. This distinction is important because Restream’s instructions say the scheduled YouTube event can only go live once. A separate unlisted test can help with checking your general presentation, but it is not a reason to start the event you intend viewers to attend.
If Playlist is absent from the Restream home screen, first check whether your account has the required Upload & Stream add-on access. Restream’s guide associates Playlists with eligible add-on tiers; availability and commercial terms can change, so check Restream’s current account and plan information rather than relying on an old screenshot or price. If you have access but the item is still missing, consult Restream support or its latest help article.
If a video is absent from the selection screen, check whether the upload has completed and whether the file is in the expected Restream library. Do not substitute a YouTube playlist URL and expect the documented file-selection workflow to import it. If the wrong clip plays first, return to the playlist setup before it goes live and drag the files into the intended order. Once live, Restream says the order cannot be changed.
If the YouTube destination or channel is missing, confirm you connected and authorised the intended channel. If YouTube live streaming has never been enabled on the channel, check YouTube’s current requirements; Restream’s channel guide notes a phone verification step and a 24-hour wait for first-time enablement, but account requirements can vary or change. Allow time for the channel to become eligible before announcing a scheduled date.
If viewers cannot open the link, test it while signed out and check the event’s privacy setting and destination. A private event will not behave like a public event for a general audience. Also confirm that you copied the scheduled event URL rather than a Restream dashboard address or the URL of a different test event. If the event time looks wrong, compare the time zone in the event settings with the time written in your announcement.
If the stream begins late or does not appear when expected, check the scheduled time, YouTube destination, and event card before changing settings. Restream says its prerecorded files and playlists start automatically at the scheduled time; the workflow does not call for an operator to press a start button for the playlist. Do not assume the same start behaviour applies to every other platform connected to Restream, since its scheduling documentation notes that some destinations may require manual action.
For a channel that depends on a long-running broadcast, plan what happens beyond this scheduled sequence. A scheduled playlist is not automatically the same as an always-on channel that restarts or repeats indefinitely. Our guide on restarting an Indian music YouTube Live stream automatically discusses that separate operational problem. In this article’s workflow, the important preparation is to get the file sequence, event details, and shareable event link right before the scheduled start.
If a prepared file sequence removes the repeated task of running playback from your own computer, StreamNeo offers a separate YouTube-only route: upload a file, provide your stream key, and let the broadcast continue with your computer off, with monitoring and automatic restart if it drops. That is a different product workflow from Restream’s documented Playlist setup, so choose according to whether you need a scheduled sequence built from multiple files or a continuously running file-based channel.

FAQ
Can I schedule a playlist of videos to go live automatically?
Yes, Restream’s documented workflow lets you arrange video files into a Playlist and schedule it as a prerecorded livestream. Restream says the scheduled playlist starts automatically at the selected time. You still need to configure the YouTube event and verify the time, destination, and link beforehand.
Can Restream import a playlist I already made on YouTube?
The reviewed Restream instructions describe selecting files already uploaded to Restream or uploading files, then arranging them there. They do not document importing a native YouTube playlist. Treat a YouTube playlist and a Restream Playlist as separate things unless Restream’s current documentation explicitly adds that capability.
How do I get a link to my scheduled Playlist?
Find the scheduled event from the Restream home screen and open or copy the associated YouTube event link. Test the URL in a private browser window to check that it leads to the event page and that its privacy setting suits the intended audience. Share the date, time, and time zone alongside it.
Can I change the videos after the playlist starts?
Restream says you can add, remove, and reorder videos only before the playlist goes live. During the broadcast, it says graphics and chat can still be edited, but the video sequence cannot. Review the order and preview the programme before scheduling.
